Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 117th place (with 1,038 active CPUs - 29,000 completed Work Units and more than 5,000,000 points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 16 folding threads)

Steve - F@H has no connection with BOINC; I too failed to get my PC to run it sucessfully -- I suspect it's because I'm still on WinME! F@H was no problem to install and set up.

I lost my best PC (my son's gaming rig) and my two slow ones are both chewing on 2107s. I have fallen back out of the top 100 and I'll never get back in unless I buy a new PC.

I am working hard to break into the top 200. At your current rate of production, you will pass me in about 60 days and you will break into the top 100 in about 105 days.
My son taking his gaming PC back has really hurt my production, I have the laptop fired up and folding again. I am trying to be one of the first 100 FReepers to hit the 10K mark.
