That's all I needed to hear. I definitely won't be buying any Star Trek books... but then again, I wouldn't have anyway.

The ST series, especially NG and Voyager, were quite PC and had a liberal/progressive slant.

Do you think this is a coincidence?
"Without warning or provocation, a Xindi weapon appears above Earth and unleashes a blast that kills millions across two continents. "
Xindi... Cindy (Sheehan)
Well, maybe they didn't quite intended that way.

The novel's about the Xindi super-weapon. The dedication to Cindy Sheehan strikes me as odd or more rather ironic: you can't stop evil merely with soothing words. Evil, whether it comes from Islamofascists of today or the Xindi of Star Trek's future, has to be stopped with force. There's no place for pacifists in free societies, for the uncritical pursuit of peace at any price gets every one killed.

Just ran across this:
J.J. Abrams to bring 'Star Trek' back to theatres
The new project, which will be the 11th instalment of the popular film series, will reportedly return to the origins of classic Trek characters James T. Kirk and Spock, originally portrayed by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

Any trekkies here who are also interested in Doctor Who?
There is a new series, it has been on the SciFi channel, with a new doctor.
Yesterday's episode was interesting -- Broadcast news controlling people. LOL
http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/04/21/doctor-who-series-one-the-long-game/
"The Doctor, Rose and Adam land on Satellite 5, which broadcasts news of the entire Earth Empire (Yes! We're still great even in the future!). News gathering is performed by one person, whose brain is one big storage unit, while subordinates put the reports together using small mind chips. An 'Editor-in-Chief' oversees everyone on the satellite and in the entire empire through a control room manned by zombies."
(Of course the reviewer, being a liberal, likens it to FoxNews)
"It turns out that an alien has been manipulating the human race for nearly 100 years, as well as its news (pretty much like Rupert Murdoch and FOX News does today)."
====
Actually it's more like the MSM has been manipulating people, until FoxNews and the internet came along.

Forget Star Trek. Whatever they had, they have long since lost. And I speak as a former Trekkie myself.
Discover David Weber and the Honor Harrington series. Good conservative Science Fiction with strong moral values.
Check out baen.com -- go to the free library and read "On Basilisk Station".
You won't be sorry you did.

Look for Trek novels written by Dafydd ab Hugh/Brad Linaweaver.
They're total right wingers. =]
In fact, in one novel (can't recall) - they wrote Captain Sisko attended Thomas Sowell High School.

No great loss for me,as virtually all of the trek books I have read were crap, both writing and plot. I never peruse the trek/star wars books.
