J.J Abrams could do it. I'd really prefer a fresh approach to the Star Trek universe. With the earlier shows, been there, done that. All the same it would be interesting to see the project out of the Paramount Studios. It would have to be special to get the fans to go out in droves to see it and it better faithful to the Great Bird Of The Galaxy's vision of the ST universe.
