DURHAM -- Results from the second round of DNA tests in connection with the Duke lacrosse rape investigation will not likely be available before May 15, District Attorney Mike Nifong said Saturday.
Nifong also denied an allegation by some defense attorneys that the second exotic dancer at the March 13 party where the rape allegedly occurred received special treatment from Nifong's office so she'd cooperate with the prosecutor.
Kim Roberts, 31, was arrested March 22 -- eight days after the lacrosse party -- on a probation violation from a 2001 conviction for embezzling $25,000.
The same day a grand jury indicted lacrosse players Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty, a judge agreed to a change so that Roberts would no longer have to pay a 15 percent fee to a bonding agent. Nifong signed a document saying he would not oppose the change.
Soon after the rape allegation was made, Roberts told defense attorneys that she doubted the story of her colleague who told police she was dragged into a bathroom and raped. But in an interview last week with the Associated Press, Roberts said she thinks some players -- she's not sure which ones -- are guilty.
"It seems she is receiving very favorable financial treatment [from prosecutors] for what she is now saying," said Bill Thomas, a defense attorney for one of the lacrosse players who has not been indicted.
Nifong said Saturday that wasn't his motive in agreeing to change Roberts' bond from secured to unsecured.
"It's consistent with local bonding policy," Nifong said, when asked why he supported the change.
Nifong, who faces two challengers in the May 2 Democratic primary, attended a meet-and-greet with supporters Saturday at Joe & Jo's Downtown Restaurant and Pub, where he fielded a few questions from The Herald-Sun.
Nifong ordered the second round of DNA tests from a private lab after initial tests by the SBI crime lab in Raleigh failed to find DNA from any of 46 lacrosse players tested on or in the accuser, nor any of her DNA in the bathroom in which she said she was raped, sodomized, beaten and strangled for 30 minutes by three men.
Some defense attorneys had said they expected the new DNA test results last week.

If you believe the feminist mythology that rape isn't about sex, it's about power, then it makes perfect sense.
LOL! A lot of similarities to "the Bonfire of the Vanities". It remains to be seen whether enough love survives between the warring factions that as they lie dying from their wounds they exhaust their last smidgen of life reaching out and grasping the other's hand.
Fox news doing a story on the strip club where the AV worked. May be a rerun of Kim Guilfoyle's thing last nite...
I agree with your post 100 percent.
We're all read the stories about potential Duke students may be having second thoughts; well, what about businesses; would you move your business there, after all this?
You and I both know that the saddest part of this story is that neither Durham nor Duke will ever be the same.
All for votes.
At that age, we didn't have the balls to go around with an actual beer can in our hands. Hence, the fast food paper cups!
At our high school, if we turned up drunk or in possession of alcohol, we didn't get busted, other than by our parents, and we were referred to therapy or rehab, depending on the number of times we were caught. I don't know if they didn't think drinking was a big deal, or if it was to protect the reputation of the school. Probably a combination of both.
Since most of our parents grew up in the 60's and drank their way through high school and college too, we didn't get in too much trouble!
Of course, drugs were uncool and taboo, and you'd get expelled pretty darn quick.
I'm not particularly proud of it, today, but that's the way it was!
The good news is that those who read Time, could hold a reunion in a toilet stall with space to spare.
An excellent theory about the media, and really, liberals in general!
Hence all the sniping about the "preppy" Bushes!
Call to Escort Service Began a Night of Trouble at Duke

Using the name Adam, Dan Flannery, a senior team captain, called an escort service and hired two dancers for $400 each. The dancers were to show up at 11:30 p.m. on March 13. The address was 610 North Buchanan Boulevard, a white house across the street from Duke's east campus on a block known for parties.
A neighbor, Jason Bissey, watched the party begin as players gathered in the backyard. By 2 p.m., he said, he saw them drinking in the yard.
About 8:30 p.m., a 27-year-old single mother of two answered her phone. That woman, a Durham native, was enrolled at North Carolina Central, a historically black college on the south side of town. Its patchy grass and simple brick buildings are a world away from Duke.
The woman had held factory and store jobs but had begun working for an escort service to help pay for college. She thought she would be dancing at a bachelor party that night. When she arrived about 11:30 p.m., she was wearing a negligee and shiny white strappy high heels, and met a second dancer, Kim Roberts. They entered the house by the back door.
No kidding, the article drips with envy, contempt, hostility....
That's just the way I think; hate fraternities and sororities? I'm thinking you got blackballed.......LOL.
Because people that don't care about being in them, don't care about them period.
Shiny white strappy heels??
Try hump-me-pumps....
She got out of the car like that?
HORRORS.
Cell phone pictures?

Some cell phones can take picture and I understand some even short video clips. I don't own such a cell phone, but my cell phone and I think all others have their time set internally by the cell phone company unlike DVD players, stand alone digital cameras, etc where you set the clock yourself. This makes sense since what time a cell phone call is made may matter to billing where as no one usually cares what time is on your microwave.
BTW, if the accused who was eating somewhere else made a cell phone call or two while eating, what tower he hit will also back up his where abouts.
No wonder the neighbor was on the porch smoking so many cigarettes..LOL
Yuck
I don't even know why he kept going back in the house...........LOL.
Where are the articles explaining why blacks are so invested in this flawed "victim" and what exposing her as a lying, false accuser will mean to them and future real victims? Where is an article describing the seamy world of escorts? Where are stories about grifters who set up wealthy young men for blackmail?
Fox story up @ top of hour..
Now you know we're not going to hear about that.
I told my in-laws yesterday that if this girl came on national TV and told the world she made the entire thing up, some of the people in Durham will swear "the white man got to her."
Hey now - you've been spying on me!
