Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I don't trust Doxies around kids, for the most part. They tend to get snippy (in my experience).
Scotties, schnauzers, etc - they are stubborn, but they adore their families. It's only strangers that'll get theie ankles nipped. :-)
Mutts are my all-time favorite. You can always find a good mutt.

You can always find a good mutt. Well of course. Your finding Ramius is proof of that.

All little dogs are easily hurt, and that makes them not good around kids. Especially doxies, who are vulnerable by design.
I almost without exception wouldn't recommend small dogs for kids. A kid's not going to hurt a lab.

LOL... true enough... :-)

A kid's not going to hurt a lab. I wish I had pictures of how Luke used to "play" with Sam. I've seen him (at no more than two) with Sam's face in his hands moving his mouth up and down. Sam just sat there.

We ran across the movie The Sure Thing on TV the other night. It was in the middle of their road trip, so I explained to Clare what the movie was about as we watched the rest of it. Lordy, John Cusack was YOUNG. Then, when they arrived in CA, who was his friend on the other end but Anthony Edwards! I'd forgotten he was in the movie. He looked SO different with all of the hair on his head. ;o)

In all honesty, I'm more of a mutt than he is.
Spaniard, Cuban, Puerto Rican....

Heh, our family dog would let my youngest brother pull toys out of his mouth, crawl on him, anything. Nothing cuter than the big family dog and a toddler fooling around.

Heh... I don't know why, Ruthy, but that list sounds a little like me saying "I'm a mutt... English, Scottish, a little German..."

Yeah. I always smile when I think of Tequila and her food obsession.
And Pudgy and his ball obsession.
And Dino's fear of thunderstorms (and just about everything else).
And since I've lost "custody" of Scruffy and Jessi, it's the first time I've been dog-less in years.

I'm just sayin'... there's mutt, and there's mutt. Having known some really interesting mutts (Hungarian/Thai, Japanese/Texan, etc) most of the rest of us seem like fairly homogenous people.

Mutts are mutts though - once you've got 3 or more races in the gene pool. :-)
