Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

My dad liked to haul the brothers out by the ear when they misbehaved in church. To this day I think one of them has mishapen ears because of that.

Well, I'm not a parent, so I have a unique and possibly unhelpful perspective on all things kid.
The way I see it, a situation like that is just boring as heck for a little kid, and he's not yet mature enough to lie and feign interest. :~D
To: JenB
Like I said, I should have done that early on tonight. Part of the problem is that with Sunday School and Children's Church, he doesn't get the actual experience of sitting in the service. That allows us both to be in the choir. But tonight I was thinking one of us may need to take a break and just "learn" him for a while.
When my brother was little, my mom got him up to take him out of church for a spanking. On the way out he whacked his nose on a pew and got a nosebleed...all over his white shirt. She just took him home.

This wasn't regular church. And it wasn't boring.
And there were dozens of other kids there. His age and younger, that behaved just fine.

It was boring to Luke!
I could give you some of my Quiet Pony Powder, see if that helps take the edge off :~D

Woohooo! It's VBS week!
After I drop off the jedis, I'm gonna stop off by the fried pie shop and get me a coconut creme fried pie. Then I'm going to come home and enjoy the fried pie with a cup of coffee. Then I really should clean up the kitchen. Then, after I get that chore done, I think I'll spend a long long time spiffing up my feet, give myself a good and pretty pedicure which my feet really need after a weekend of some serious barefoot gardening.
I'll post pictures of the gardening effort while my feet are soaking. The teepee looks fantastic!
There's a lovely storm in the area. The yard and garden look great. Yesterday evening, Matthew and I were standing in the front yard looking at how nice it looked and Matthew said "You know, if didn't take Dad too long after he graduated to get things shaped up around here!"
He has done a great job of making the yard look nice.

I'm planning on sending a copy of it to her new school, even though they didn't ~ask~ for it.
