Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...it has to be a potted plantation. They don't tolerate frost.

BTW, if either of you would like a monster plant spawn, I have one that'll be ready for planting by the about next week...and will probably start another about that time.
I have one that I started right after I got the plant and it's going great guns, so apparently cuttings do work really well from this plant! That one's promised to Anne, though.
Pretty soon I need to cut back the little plant that was here when I got here, too. It's taking over my kitchen.
To: RosieCotton
Ya ought to pot it up and give it to Ruthy as a housewarming... I am seriously considering giving her one of my big ones, because while all the plants spend the summer outside, they spend all winter lined up along my only window that gets any light at all. I don't have room for them, and she's got a big ole place there with lots of windows I saw.
To: HairOfTheDog
They do help make a place homey!

What's the matter with that dog? They're supposed to want to be wherever we are. Rain or shine, heat or bitter cold. Well, Nana, Mom and Luke were inside...
In other news, Jr's youth production was great. Probably the best I've seen in a while.
Luke's behavior, however, was not great. He's officially grounded until he's 47.

Oh - bummer for Luke.... How bad could he be?
To: g'nad
like Sam'll even notice?... 'zactly what I was thinkin'
It's funny. Sam is technically Jr's dog, but he knows who takes care of him. If we're all here he comes to me. If I'm not here, he'll go to Nana.

Bad enough that I should have taken him out early on. He wouldn't sit still. Wouldn't be quiet.
And when the pastor gave the invitation...Luke raised his hand and was acknowledged with a "your brother will be proud."
'Course Luke was just wavin' to Jr.
Seriously though, I don't get it. He's very bright. He gets good conduct awards at school. He ~can~ behave. He just won't in settings like that.
It's frustrating.

He ~can~ behave. He just won't in settings like that. It's not a puzzle to me. (1) he's a little kid (2) He's a Stormhands :~D
To: HairOfTheDog
If I had behaved like that in church at his age I still wouldn't be able to sit down.
