Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Bah, y'all should pool the money and together it won't be as expensive. Make it a threeway split. That way the blame and the responsibility get laid where they belong. And since it WAS an accident no one person is fully responsible. Just my 2 cents.

This morning when I plugged it back in, "Pfffzzzt!" and burnt plastic
That's awlful!! Can it be fixed or do you have to buy a new computer? And, it figures it would happen first thing Monday morning when you can't do anything about it.

SirKit is always paranoid about that happening. He ties everything down six ways to Sunday for that reason!

...I got scolded by Dad in front of everyone present for getting upset. Everyone else chipped in their 2 cents - *not* in my defense. I'm apparently far more guilty than the ones who caused the problem, because I didn't take it without a single "What have you done?". I know it'll end up being me in the middle again if I try to bring it up. I can't take the drama.

...It's also a lot easier to made sense of it in the abstract. Different to look your brother in the eye at the cell phone store, when he's as upset about what he's done as you are and say "Now, fork over the dough." I'll leave it up to him to pay me something down the line if he wants, now that I've taken care of it up front.
To: RosieCotton
Well, yeah. But I think you should find a way to make it clear to him that he *should* pay some, and let him have the guilt trip.
It just... the whole thing doesn't seem right.

I think I'll just start getting a new case and power supply and take it from there. :)
I was wanting a quieter case anyway.
This could be fun!
...or not. :)

Cold-blooded logic rarely applies when family is involved.
Meanwhile, I'm going to be late for work since I can't for the life of me find my glasses.
To: LSAggie
BTW, I still have thelaptop.

.....
What irks me is that your brother should ~insist~ on paying for it. But my family operates very much the same way, so I understand the difficulty in asking for a contribution from any of them. :-/

Well, for what it's worth
posting in spy font just in case they lurk...your Dad was way out of line for scolding you. Yer adults fercryinoutloud and they destroyed something very expensive that belonged to you, and something that it was inconvenient for you to replace. If your Dad didn't want THEM paying for it, then the only appropriate thing would be for HIM to offer to pay for it. Just my $0.02.

Good morning!
Been proofreading all morning. I'm done. Steve is going over it page by page right now making sure he addressed everything the advisor noted in the last set of revisions. There weren't many and Steve finished them on Saturday...just going back over the whole thing now, then will print it up and turn it in. This has literally got to be the "final draft" or all hope of Steve making it by this Friday is lost.
Which won't be the end of the world...but would be disappointing after all this work.
I'll check in when I can.

Maybe in another month or so. Have to glassblock and tile the shower, put down some flooring, get the a/c finished connected, finish insulating the ceiling, baseboards, etc. the kitchen cabinets will have to wait a while. Looking forward to it though. :) Been working on this place for over a year.

Sigh. Family. Can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em... I do think you put up with way more than I would. Your siblings can't have everything in life handed to them forever.
Ugh, I just want to curl up and die right now. I hate sore throats and my stomach is upset too.
