Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Someday I'd like to build an elaborate kitty tower thingy with different ways up and down and a big high shelf and hidey places... I'll probably convert a room ;~D
Well, after much putting-off, we're off to the beach house...
To: HairOfTheDog
I'd know what my cats like better than most of those companies would, too. And it'd be MUCH cheaper!
Well...I went out for awhile, but still didn't make it to Petsmart or get a watch band / new watch. Kinda having one of those days where nothing is quite right enough to spend money.

X3 was fun... a couple scenes I thought looked silly and some plot points I still haven't decided if they worked for me, but quite cool overall.

Ungh...trying to finally straighten out all the music on my PC, which is realllly making me wish I had been more organized in the first place.
I guess at least I'm consistant in all parts of my life...

a couple scenes I thought looked sillyI'm curious which scenes you didn't like!
All told, I thought it was pretty good. Too intense for the Jedis perhaps, as there are a lot of on-camera deaths in this one... this one is a lot darker than even X-Men 2 was.
Not as many "Yes!" moments as X2 had, for me... but still there were some satisfactions. And, oh my stars and garters, Kelsey Grammar is perfect for the voice of Hank McCoy, imho!

~sigh~ No X-Men for me this weekend. But I'll try to get out and see it next weekend!
Whatta long day. Packed up a dozen boxes and cleaned house though, so I least I feel like I accomplished something. :-)
Now...what to fix for dinner.....

Heh... if you'd read the comic book at all, you'd recognize the phrase. That was a big bit of characterization that I appreciated in the movie!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Nope. Never read one. Never even held one in my hands. Oh well.

Well, the X-titles haven't really been worth reading in about 15 years or so, imho... but if you can find some of the collections of the older comics that have been published, they are well worth a read. Again, just my opinion!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
While I maintain that comic-based movies are pretty good, the same can*not* be said for video game-based movies. We just watched BloodRayne. Supposedly a vampire flick. Ugh. Yuck. Lame. Cheesey. Awful. With a little less sex and gore, it would be perfect for MST3K.

Oh yeah... I've heard "BloodRayne" described as one of the worst movies ever made. Apparently, the producer/director, Uwe Boll, made it to lose money as a tax write-off. He's known for doing that...

The scenes with Phoenix using her power just didn't quite work for me - for similar reasons that I don't like the wizards' duel in Fellowship, I think. Otherwise it was really good. I think Hugh Jackman is a very good actor, and obviously Stewart and McKellan are, and since they had the biggest roles it was a lot of fun.
So, spoilers.... Does it look like the anti-mutant vaccine stuff wears off? I wasn't sure where they were going with Magneto still having some faint power, but that would make sense. And since we stayed through the credits.... Xavier coming back would be awesome.

Ohh, the Dark Phoenix power effects worked for me... if anything, I found them a little understated. Dark Phoenix was a lot more wild in the comic book than her portrayal in the movie. Anyway, spoiler-font: Yes, I think the "cure" vaccine was wearing off at the end... I'm guessing it would require regular innoculations to keep it working, since it was in effect a "gene therapy" type of thing, using Leech's DNA to cancel out the mutant genes in the subject vaccinated.
Also, Xavier's little trick didn't surprise me at all, since he's done that or similar things several times in the comics. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that Cyclops is still alive, since we didn't see a body. End spoiler!

How come stuff like that never happens to me?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
It wasn't so much her powers as it was just the visuals on them, somehow. Yeah, I can see both those guys coming back in future movies. It seemed a particularly abrupt way to off Cyclops anyway. Oh, and Phoenix too... those people just don't die...

He's pretty cute, I agree. My sister is all excited about some movie he's in this fall with Christian Bale where they're dueling magicians.
