Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, I priced a move with one of the PODS, and it was over $4000, and it didn't even include that much time in the driveway for packing! We could get a larger cargo trailer for less than that, and then have it available down South to store the stuff until we find a place to live. I'd hate to think of the cost of one of those PODS if we had to keep it for an additional month or two. Also, if we bought a trailer, we'd have a nice enclosed means for hauling construction supplies in the event we want to take up home remodeling.

Yes, it's a mint and yes, you can get it at Home Depot. You can even find it potted at Petsmart sometimes too.

Well I thought about mowing....that's as far as I got. :)

Just nice having it start without any question that it's gonna...and no lighter fluid.

I went with the Weber one...the off brand looked smallish and kinda flimsy.

Uh-oh. Thunder.

To: Overtaxed
I don't mind mowing once I get going...but getting going takes effort. And I hate dealing with gas...and it was empty.

Heh...I don't need a neighbor kid to mow, but maybe I could hire one to fill my mower with gas. ;-)

To: RosieCotton
Would using a plastic funnel help?

Whoa, those little things are 'vey' pricey, didn't know that. Sounds like your plan is a lot better, heh, should have known that. The HH is choc-fulla smart hobbits. :=)
To: Overtaxed
Well...the gas can has a little spout thingie. I still always manage to get some on my hands, though. And gas is scary.

To: RosieCotton
Will they grow in the shade? I'd like something that would spread under the trees. Might go get some of your ivy stuff.

To: HairOfTheDog
I think mint will grow pretty much anywhere you'll let it. It's kinda invasive sometimes.

And you're welcome to as much of my ivy stuff as you can obtain. ;-) I'll trade ya for the myrtle...still need to go get some of that.

Incidentally, supposedly that will grow in just about any condition - sun or shade, good soil or poor.

To: HairOfTheDog
Oh...and I think bachelors buttons do OK in the shade, too, if that's what you meant...I was still thinking mint for some reason.

I have another variety of bachelors buttons in the back, and it seems to be doing fine.

My house sold too fast...I barely started cleaning, let alone anything else. But I guess that's a good problem to have. ;-)Frankly I'd LOVE for that to happen, but I don't think we'd get top dollar for it that way. ;o)

Yeesh! I ain't got $4,000 of frap worth movin'...The 4K includes the transport down South, but dang, for that money, we'll haul the stuff ourselves, and KEEP the trailer! Of course, this requires that we get a truck, but we were going to do that anyway.
