The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

See, if we hadn't been seen together at Entmoot, we could totally pull a "they're really the same person... just with serious multiple personality disorder" thing.

That's ok, it would be sort of hard to pull off. What with photographic evidence and all.

I always liked John Denver's music. "Rocky Mountain High" always makes me think of the weekend that SirKit and I met. We were at a Music Liturgy workshop, and there were lots of guitars and singing that weekend. That one was a HUGH group sing on the first night we were there. "Cowgirl in the Sand" is another one that reminds me of that weekend; another group sing.

Thanks for the reminder! SirKit told me today that if we're ever into REAL money, I can get him a session at the Barrett skunkworks for some firearms training. He LIKED that sniper rifle, "reaching out and touching someone from 2400 meters away."

I swore (usually a bad move) that I'd give my heart to the first guy who, of his own initiative, sang Annie's Song to me. Well, he turned out to be a big jerk so that all worked out to a big nevermind. heh. (Kinda like John Denver, huh?)

When they went to the "private range in NM" it looked just like the countryside up in the northeastern corner of the state. I bet it was the Whittington Center operated by the NRA. I've shot there before. Several times.

With the aforementioned jerk, unfortunately. Heh.

For now, I'd guess the answer is "dream on". ;-)

I'm grillin' chicken. Hope it turns out good. Dunno why it shouldn't...mmm, grilled chicken. Should be leftovers for lunches, too.

And for an even cooler $2.8K, you can get one of these (single shot, but rated a best-buy):

I almost had my dimes saved up until the war started, and everything went into knives. Plus, I'm still trying to figure out where I could shoot it outside of the artillery range at Camp Grayling.

I saw Elliot's second song. Nicely done.

But I couldn't respond to the pings. I was off plastering - actually telling Jr. how to plaster - a hawk.

We built a wire frame and mounted it on a block of floral foam. He covered it with plaster cloth and that's drying. Tomorrow he'll paint it and tomorrow night we'll feather in the details with construction paper. Some times I'm so smart, I amaze myself.

I'm on thelaptop here and it's drivin' me crazy, so I'll say g'nite.

See y'all tomorrow.
