Duke Rape Suspect May Have Alibi
ABC News ^ | April 18, 2006 | n/a

One of the two Duke University lacrosse players arrested on charges of raping and kidnapping a 27-year-old woman at an off-campus party had been arrested in the fall for assaulting a man in Washington, D.C., and the other was not present when the alleged crime occurred, sources told ABC News.

Multiple sources told ABC News that Reade Seligmann, 20, was not present in the house at the time the alleged victim says the crime occurred. Sources say this is established through different witness accounts, as well as cell phone and credit-card records.

It was the other dancer who called 911, if you mean the one complaining about the N-word. She said she was a passerby rather to reveal her job as a stripper.

I'm not aware of this accuser calling 911.

The fact that he was somewhere else is simply a reflection of how determined he was to commit the rape.

indictment just happen to have the richest parents

Probably hoping for an out-of-court 'settlement' with significant $$$ changing hands. After all, J J is known for 'shakedowns'.

Yeah, and now the media are camped out in front of these homes. I can't imagine if some of these kids have younger siblings.

No one could rape me in a bathroom without my DNA being found all over the place...blood, urine, vomit, feces, saliva. It would be sprayed all over that bathroom if I was gang raped by 3 big, strapping guys. How is it that her DNA wasn't found ANYWHERE in the bathroom?

Another thing...that statistic the DA keeps throwing out there about 75-80% rape cases not having DNA evidence. I'd like to ask him what the percentage is of rape victims who, without washing themselves, go the hospital immediately after the rape and have a rape kit done, versus the ones who wash themselves and/or wait several days or weeks before reporting the crime. The alleged victim in this case didn't go somewhere and jump in a shower before she locked herself in the stranger's car and passed out, did she?

Ladies, if you ever are raped, as tempted as you might be (who wouldn't?) to immediately scrub yourself down, try to have the presence of mind to NOT rinse your mouth or drink or eat anything, and do NOT wash yourself. Go straight to the hospital.

"Another thing...that statistic the DA keeps throwing out there about 75-80% rape cases not having DNA evidence."

In a large number of rape cases, the defendant does not deny sex took place but claims it was consensual. DNA evidence has no bearing in those cases.

It's worth noting also that these two who were arrested were the ones that the stripper was "100% sure" about. The one that hasn't been arrested is the "90% sure" one..

And when a not guilty verdict comes in they can riot here just like they did in LA. Oh Joy.

My post is unclear then, I do mean the other dancer is the confessed liar to 911. How anything she has to say can be accepted is beyond me, that alone has defense counsel allowed the "You were lying then, are you lying now?" cross-exam. Also, her reason for lying is just plain stupid to me, she didn't want anyone to know what she did. 911 calls are not made public and her name/job would not have been revealed had she said the cops need to come, my friend has been raped. She called 911 because she was insulted ... this is ridiculous, an egegious use of the emergency system.

Forget DNA, go by Dun & Bradtreet reports.

Do you know who has a lot of money? Bill Clinton.

I wonder where he was on the night in question.....

Just because the white guy was not there does not mean he is innocent. Given the long history of white males assaulting black females, he may very well have just been out somewhere raping some other black woman. Don't forget other victims such as Tawanna Brawley also need justice.

To be fair to everyone, just send three or four of the LaCrosse players to the penitentiary and give the rest a stern warning -- White Boys, don't let the sun set on yer heads in this hear town of ours!

I'll add some other advice ... unless the guy has a gun on you or a good choke hold and your life is clearly threatened, do whatever you can to get evidence of HIM on you -- not just the spunk-DNA, but yes, scrape your fingernails, bite him good, pull some hair, anything to help yourself in the ID process.

I have another question, brought up on some of these talking-head shows ... apparently the accuser was wearing a bodysuit costume, tight and clinging. I have heard it was not torn -- anyone able to confirm this, the suit and the fact that it was not torn (as would seem to have been necessary in order for this rape to have occured)??

This is all quite troubling and slightly similar to some of the Tawana Brawley (sp?) case. One hopes it will not come to that, it was an astonishingly ugly thing.

Brit Hume was just saying something to the effect that the three "chosen" for indictment just happen to have the richest parents - apparently that sor of stuff is listed on the Internet.

That would explain why it took hjer so long to ID the alleged perps. Credit check on the parents.
