The Sopranos gets political (vanity)
Me

Posted on 04/17/2006 10:11:24 AM PDT by doesnt suffer fools gladly

Did anyone watch last night's Sopranos? Tony's daughter Meadow went on a Bush rant, claiming his Administration was rounding up Muslims for no reason...Bush is taking over the world, blah, blah.

Tony Soprano made a crack about Rick "Sanitorium". I couldn't make heads or tails over whatever Christopher was talking about. Carmella stated that she voted for Bush. I read in an interview that the actress Edie Falco hated reciting that line.

The DUmmies are celebrating the Bush bashing.

I didn't see it as a bash - Meadow looked like a total horse's ass throughout the episode.

She did, if you don't agree with her. Over at the DUmp, they're doing the Toyota jump over it. Meadow's their new hero, lol.

I agree. She came off as an idiot. If the DUmmies want to hail her as their new spokesman, I say let them. And sit back and laugh.

In our house we now call her "White Guilt" after the whole black people clinging to logs line.

Wasn't much impressed with Sunday's episode.

Meadow gratuated Dean's List from a liberal college, what does one expect?

If you go back to 2004, Edie Falco did radio ads for something called "Mothers Opposing Bush", or "The MOB". Which went positively nonwhere.

Looking forward to nect week's episode where Benny (Max Cassella: Vinnie DelPino from Steven Bochco's old "Doogie Houser, MD") beats up on Tony.

I've a feeling Benny isn't going to be around much longer.

Jack.

The Dummies don't live in NJ. There are over three dozen Democrats in NJ under investigation for mob ties currently. A untold number of Democrats are mobbed up. The Dem leaning media is mobbed up. Every major Dem politician in the state is mobbed up. Every major environmental organization is mobbed up. Almost every union is mobbed up. Not much to brag about. The goodfellas are major stakeholders in the Democrat party in several counties and the state Dem party. Dems won't even deny the goodfellas are part of the Dem machinery, they send out boilerplate denials of the persons' connections to organized crime. Even when the person has served time for mob related felonies.

Meadows rant was perfect, the vast vast majority of poor little rich girls in North Jersey hold the exact same views.

True, lol. On a sort-of-related note, Tony Sirico, the actor who plays Paulie Walnuts, is a Republican and Bush supporter.

I think the last two episodes will be known as when the Sopranos jumped the shark. Gay mafioso brings a new meaning to the kiss of death. Don's daughter being allowed access to case files without anyone wondering if she was trying to 'fix' cases. Paulie's mom not being his mom. I think the scripts were pasted together from rejected ideas from the previous seasons.

I think the gay angle wa the best part of the show. Vito bumming around New Hamphire getting in touch with his inner Homo while Tony is talking about how Hollywood is pushing Gay this and Gay that. Should be fun to watch this play out.
Line of the night:

This entire season IMO. If they are not "rejected ideas from previous seasons," they are crap dreamed up by writers to see how far they can push former fans of the Sopranos to see how long they will continue to watch before the ratings enter the dumper. What do they care? They are being paid big money no matter what drivel is put out. It's a joke to what was formerly one of the only things worth watching on the tube.

Corruption, murder, extortion, law breaking, yup, sounds like a good Democrat to me.

Whoa, hold on a bit. This is supposedly the final season. What we have unfolding week after week is watching what was once a well-oiled, tightly controlled mob gang beginning to come apart at the seams.

One guy hangs himself because Tony won't let him leave the family and move to Florida. Uncle Junior goes completely nuts and shoots Tony. Paulie Walnuts has his life turned upside down and is going through some sort of personal identity crisis. Carmello is having problems with her spec house (and her father). Vito gets caught in a leather bar, and takes a powder. You just know something bad is going to happen with the guys brought in from Naples to do a hit for Johnny Sack. Phil Leotardi is itching to give Johnny Sack the sack. And Christopher's Arab buddies seem alike a trap waiting to spring. Finn and Meadow seem headed for some kind of turmoil. And AJ is a bomb waiting to go off. Even Silvio is having asthma attacks.

This is great drama. Nobody has jumped the shark, yet.

They have for me. After all this time and all those episodes, I have watched the last of the Sopranos. I think this whole season is a bad joke on their former fans and I've had enough.

Here's a couple of "political" Sopranos - the only ones I know about. God bless them.

Scroll down just a little way for the pics:

I loved last night's episode. The discussion after Meadow's boyfriend left was hysterical!! There were quite alot of humorous moments.

What an oddball episode! Tony asks if the Muslim guys Christopher knows "could be al-qaeda?" and Christopher doesn't think so, because they have dogs. He thinks they're springer spaniels.

Christopher is getting some of the funniest lines of the entire series this season.
