In general, Vonnegut is a little too left-wing for me, but Harrison Bergeron is a great short story.

Eating disorders, BS. They're being told to cover up because criminal LEBANESE muzzie gangsters are TAKING OVER AUSTRALIA, and they can't control their hormones, adapt to the oz way of life, or get it up for the gorillas they married.

Not a story, a prediction of the future.

officials of the sport who fear displays of skin may encourage eating disorders This is no laughing matter. Its real. Last night at Walmart I saw a woman that must have been 260 pounds with low rider shorts and a bare midriff. I was immediately nauseous and couldn't eat anything until noon today. So laugh it up, but bare midriffs = eating disorders.
Don't get me started on thong bikinis.

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a short story years ago about where in the future, beautiful people had to wear a mask to cover their faces, intelligent people had to have a helmet that rang a gong in their ear every few minutes, etc, etc. Life does imitate art!LOL .............. barrels around the midriff for these girls......

A society with more modesty and decorum, as ours used to be, is less vulnerable to takeover by such totalitarian ideologies. Think of the Weimar Republic.

She does not look starved, (just right, actually).
How would her build promote 'eating disorders'?

There are cheerleaders in Australia?!? I've always thought that the US alone had cheerleaders, given the association to American-style football. What sports do the Aussie girls cheer for? Do they do the same sort of stunts (pyramids, basket tosses, etc) and cheers? I'm truly fascinated....

Having been to a couple of beaches around Sydney,I can attest to the fact that few Aussie women have eating disorders.Just about all of them appeared to be quite healthy indeed.
