THE Wiggles are to receive a doctorate from the Australian Catholic University (ACU) for their contribution to childhood education.
The four children's entertainers will receive a Doctor of the University degree from ACU National at a graduation ceremony on Tuesday night at Sydney Town Hall.
"Drawing on their natural talents and energies, this group has used its knowledge of early childhood education ... and their keen interest in music and art to bring joy, humanity and great happiness to the young children of Australia, the United States of America, Great Britain, China and New Zealand," ACU National Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Sheehan said.
That show is scary. The kids love it, but it's still scary to me.
The songs just kind of STAY in your head..................FOREVER.
Agreed. There's something odd, creepy, and Michael Jackson-esque about a pirate tickling kids with a feather sword.
Muahahaaa
These are good Aussie lads who strictly adhere to Rule 1.
No "jacksonism" here!
My son and I were looking at a collectibles catalog, and we saw a Star Trek commemorative plate with the main actors on the plate. My son cried out, "Look, its the Wiggles!".
Captain Feathersword fell asleep
On his pirate ship
And he woke up on a farm...
He he he!!
Good for the Wiggles -- way less annoying than Barney in my book!!
Nah. Teletubbies--now that's odd.
The Wiggles are definitely a throwback to good ol' kids TV without (badly) hidden agendas.
The Monsterling loves the Wiggles. It's what allows me to get a shower in the morning without having him tear the house apart.
Hot potato-hot potato
Sheep skin - sheep skin
Sheep skin - sheep skin
Wiggles make 45 million each year, Australia's highest paid performers, and I think they are adorable. Something's going on "down under", that they produce such great television for children, "The Koala Brothers" a special favorite.
If you think teletubbies is odd -- you should see Boobahs.
Now that's weird! In a colorful & hypnotic way.
Anything but "I Always Picking Flowers"
You're not kidding. My TIVO taped an episode of it last week (I have a 1 yr old) so I previewed it to see if my daughter might enjoy it. I didn't make it through the opening, it was a bit trippy to say the least.
Fruit salad, yummy yummy
Fruit salad, yummy yummy
(Whispered voice) "AAARGGH"
I had never heard of the wiggles till I went on vacation last year with wife's family. Oh my GOD, I thought my brain was going to melt, when they put the wiggles in the dvd.
Had to leave the room.
Agreed. Teletubbies is seriously strange!
When you have to put up with them hour after hour, day adfter day, THAT is when you think your brain is going to melt!
Good on 'em. Taking my kids to see them next week...they really are the least offensive (and least overtly PC) of the various kids' shows.
