Another great toon! :)
ll About Taylor Hicks
http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2006/04/all_about_taylo.html
Taylor Hicks has gained a large and loyal following among American Idol viewers, but there is a certain British judge that has laid down some harsh criticism of his performance style. For much of the competition, Simon Cowell has directed insults at Taylor ranging from comparing him to a drunk dad at a wedding to straight out asking him if he was drunk after a recent performance. During the Great American Songbook theme show, Rod Stewart came to Taylor Hicks defense, and disagreed with Simon Cowells criticism. Rod Stewart professed that singers must do every thing you possible can within reason to sell the song and called Taylor a pretty good mover.
Reality TV Magazine wanted to get the inside scoop on this unique and original singer and recently interviewed Carl Douglas, who met Taylor during his Freshman year in college at Auburn University and has been friends with Taylor for about 12 years. Carl told Reality TV Magazine that Taylors early childhood was very much like many of us, he played most all sports growing up, and of course had a tremendous amount of passion for music. Carl also revealed that Taylor first developed an interest in music as soon as he could talk. He would run around the house singing and dancing at the age of 2 or 3.
Singing isnt Taylors only musical talent, Carl pointed out that Taylor also plays the guitar and the harp. In regards to Taylors previous bands and current band, Carl said Taylor has probably played in 2 or 3 bands. In high school and college he played in a band called Passing Through, he has performed over the last 8 or 9 yrs with the Taylor Hicks Band. While he is currently competing to be the next American idol, his former band members are playing under the name of Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. He has also sat in as a guest musician with several bands for fun, because that's what he enjoys to do, he loves to entertain people. And I truly think that's what he was born to do, entertain. According to Carl, Taylor has released two cds: In your time and Under the Radar.
As far as Taylors life outside of music, Carl told Reality TV Magazine that as far as his interest/hobbies would have to be playing golf, and watching SEC football when he and I get together. He is a big sports fan.
Reality TV Magazine also asked Carl about the past reports that Taylor might be considering a change of hair color. Carl told us I do not think Taylor Hicks will ever dye his hair. We have talked about it a few times and if it is up to him he will definitely NOT dye his hair. He didn't dye it gray, and he doesn't plan on dying it back brown.
Reality TV Magazine also asked about a recent report on TMZ.com that said Taylor Hicks was offended by Simon Cowell asking him if he was drunk after a recent performance. Carl said And yes to answer your additional question, Hicks was a little surprised by Simon's comment. Making false accusations on national TV is not very professional. Taylor has a very wide range of fans in age, and he appreciates all of them. I don't think I would want to be labeled by Simon to spice up his show either. He could have potentially lost fans by that false comment, and that is unfair. He has already moved on from that comment and we hope everyone else can as well.
Carl, who talks once or twice a week to Taylor, also told Reality TV Magazine that Taylor Hicks is doing really well and having lots of fun, they are working him hard but it is something that he really enjoys, so that helps. All of our families and friends could not be more proud of Taylor. He has stepped out of the box, and stayed true to himself. Taylor has worked really hard to get to this point in his career, and now all of that hard work is going to pay off. Taylor loves his fans and really appreciates all of their support.
Bo Knows Bar Fights: Bice Allegedly Scuffles With Ex-NFL Player

Former 'Idol' finalist punched ex-New York Giant star Glenn Parker, according to bar manager.
We could make a joke about picking on someone your own size. Or even crack wise about how in New York recently, Bo Bice almost punched a one-way ticket to the "Valley of Angels" he sings about on his debut album.
Hell, we could even come up with some clever play on words, like Bo versus the Volcano. But, here's the thing: Even we don't think it's that funny that the former "American Idol" runner-up allegedly picked a fight with a 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound former NFL lineman at O'Brien's Bar & Grill.
According to bar manager Cormack, a tipsy Bice was sitting at the bar Sunday night a few stools down from ex-New York Giants player and 12-year NFL veteran Glenn Parker, 39, who at some point leaned over and asked the singer if he was the Bo Bice from "Idol."
Cormack said Bice denied his identity and said his name was Kevin. A short time later, "Glenn came over to apologize to him and [Bice] had a go at 'im," Cormack said. "Glenn caught him and didn't swing back and I tried to separate them and as I was getting him off Glenn, he caught Glenn on the chin.
"Glenn's a big man and he never laid a hand on him. I have no idea why [Bice] acted that way, but Glenn could have really hurt him."
A spokesperson for Bice had no comment on the incident at press time.
If there's anything to this, then Bice just dropped a few points with me.
Make that some contestants.
Katherine and Elliot will benefit. They will be in our near their element. Paris is unpredictable - I have no idea. Chris will be forced out of his hard rock comfort zone, the one that normally hauls in the votes. I thought he was terrific this week ... finally - but his fans abandoned him and he slipped to the bottom two out of six. That's scary if you think you are the fans favorite. Kellie has no chance. Taylor always seem to find a way.
My prediction for next week - It will by bye bye to Paris. Then Kellie. Then Elliot. Final three will be Katherine, Taylor and Chris. And then Katherine and Taylor. Winner: Probably Taylor but I'm pulling for Katherine.
My folks used to own a bar and a couple of things come to mind. Bice would be the out of towner, the former Giants player a regular or at minimum a local and a football star to boot. So, the manager could be defending Glenn, not that Glenn necessarily did anything wrong.
The article says that Bice was tipsy, BUT, it doesn't tell us if Glenn was sober or tipsy, too.
The other article said Bice was half snockered. To me that's a bit more than tipsy. Sure, it sounds like minutae, but it could make a difference.
We don't know if Bice was joking when he said no, his name was Kevin, we don't know if Glenn asked the question in a funny tone. Bice could have been joking and referring to Kevin Covais from New York, thinking it would get a laugh.
If they were only a couple of bar stools apart, why did Glenn have to go ever to say 'sorry'? He could have just said it loud enough for Bice to hear him and then let it go.
I can't help but feel that there might be something missing from the stories, but if there is, we probably will never hear about it.
That 'alledged' punch to Glenn's chine, may have been nothing more than Bice flailing his hands or arms to get away from the manager.
The manager didn't get in between the two, to protect Glenn. who could probably more than take care of himself. The manager was protecting property. Not wanting busted glasses, ashtrays, or stools. Rule of thumb when a fight breaks out or looks like it will is 'get it outside'.
I have seen big hulks of guys literally walk right out of buttoned flannel shirts, when their shirt was grabbed from behind, just to get at their target!
Maybe Bice's people will release a statement over the next few days and we'll know more.
The whole thing seems a little weird though.
CLASSIC LOVE SONGS... MY SONG CHOICES FOR THE CONTESTANTS ( Note, I am trying to choose WELL KNOWN SONGS FROM THE PAST that have been known to be classics ( i.e., undying). Otherwise I don't know how Andrea Bocelli can even thinkof coaching these kids ).
Taylor .. anyone of these :
1) WITHOUT YOU ( Harry Nilson ) -- The chorus -- "Can't Live if Living is without you" is your style.
2) Smoke Gets In Your Eyes --- Can you sustain the ending for at least 8 seconds ?
3) I Can't Stop Loving You -- Ray Charles ( who else )
4) You've Lost That Loving Feeling - Righteous Brothers
5) Were All Alone - Boz Skaggs
6) ME AND MRS. JONES (Billy Paul )
7) MY LOVE ( Paul McCartney )
How about: I Need Your Love - U2
Its edgier.
Pardon the pun.
If you can't hear, you can't sing. Period.
I like your picks and add these. I tried to stay away from anything too new, since I'm not sure how old a song would need to be to be considered a 'classic' or a 'greatest' love song. I too, had picked Stand By Your Man for, Kellie.
Paris - Saving All My Love For You
Taylor - When A Man Loves A Woman
Chris - Nights In White Satin
Elliot - Since I Fell For You
Katharine - At Last
Kellie - Stand By Your Man
I think you ahve to keep in ind that 19E won't be running his career. I think it's just a year isn't it? Carrie's first CD is good so I see no reason why his wouldn't be. It's about money, so why would they sabotage their winner?
At any rate, I think he could certainly stick it out a year with them. :)
Right, but Tony explained why they might not be able to hear.
Kellie did this number on "Charlotte is Listening", a local singing competition in which she placed second.
As you may know, since I watched the newsreel footage from one of your links.
I wish he would do it on this show. What other Van numbers does Taylor cover?
I can hear him doing justice to such Morrison chestnuts as "Into the Mystic", "Tupelo Honey" or "Hymns to the Silence".
Might work better with Elliot's plaintive delivery more so than for Taylor.
But a great number either way.
