Why I Support President Bush and the ZOT!

Posted on 03/19/2006 6:29:28 AM PST by thousand dollar hamburger

I think he has a sincere desire to help everyone. he has even gone out of his way to embrace people like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He does not hold grudges as shown by his willingness to bend over backwards to allow terrorist supporting nations to operate our ports. We need this type of benevolent leader.

Our President is not a cheapskate, as he has opened up our budget to give to anyone who might need anything.

Aliens from all nations are welcomed into our great country without having to deal with mundane bureaucratic State approval. Cutting government red tape -- that's the Bush way!

Yes, our Prseident even realizes that occupying as many countries around the world as possible is the best way to spread American ideals.

We are truly lucky to have this great man. I suggest that at 10:00 AM EST, we all stand up in unison and shout -- HOORAY FOR BUSH!!!

What are your terms?

I have suddenly found another interested buyer....

Hey, wait! Lease? That means I get him back! Gack!

the Mad Bastard still awaits kevlarization on the problemmatic section. I *think* I've figured out how to do it, but I have not run the test yet.

He's for sale, not lease.

And I don't give refunds.

I'm curious to see what the end result will be.

How is your little "class" of n00bs coming along? Are they still interested?

That's funny enough to go on the UT File. Somewhere in the UT File is a litst of questions for Qantas pilots. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Well, obviously, we found it easier to build than to draw.

Really, what is so complicated about using a catenary to define a curve, and then rotating it to form the enclosed space?

I agree that tiling is a tedious procedure, either in the drawing stages or in assembly. Thank goodness we had the uniform dimensions and the factory in the lower levels.

From a draftsman's viewpoint, the staged increases in thickness of the uprights makes it difficult to sketch, even with a program, but it also permits an easier tiling procedure.

I prefer to liken the craft to a narrow drum, with the membrane surface distended as if about to explode, and the rim of the cylinder leading into the exterior and interior surfaces of the dome.

In some respects, it's like a timber-frame home, with the insulation on the outside in a smooth unblemished surface. Except that we cover both surfaces.

I haven't heard from the apprentices since last Saturday.
*shrugs*
once I design the bows, and the requisite bending forms, I will see if I can hunt them down - I know where one of them lives after all.

Yellow face today?

Yes, the horrid Yellow Face was out when I finally got up. But it's clouding over and maybe we'll get some of that promised rain.

the real mechanical bear in this design is that it must distribute two entirely different sets of stresses under radically different conditions - under planetfall on Earth, the primary stress is that of gravity thrusting through the dome lattice into the basal ring; under plantefal on Mars (or other similarly low PSI/significant gravity world) the thrust is countered to some extent by internal pressure; in space, the primary stress is the internal pressure.

I think the combination of geodesic strutwork, redundant self-sealing joints, and tensioning cables is a rather elegant solution.

This is an oldie, but I thought it should be dusted off, just because it's funny. Dead Corpse posted it on the Original UT, I think.

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash, and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash, and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall, and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse, then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang 'cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk and the macro code instructions cause unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn the sucker off and be sure to tell your Mom!

I put up the tagline each Freepathon and, for the stragglers, leave it up a while afterward.

Yikes! It is getting dated. (And I remember when 8-inch floppies were new. But was that before or after fire...?)
