Why I Support President Bush and the ZOT!
Posted on 03/19/2006 6:29:28 AM PST by thousand dollar hamburger
I think he has a sincere desire to help everyone. he has even gone out of his way to embrace people like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He does not hold grudges as shown by his willingness to bend over backwards to allow terrorist supporting nations to operate our ports. We need this type of benevolent leader.
Our President is not a cheapskate, as he has opened up our budget to give to anyone who might need anything.
Aliens from all nations are welcomed into our great country without having to deal with mundane bureaucratic State approval. Cutting government red tape -- that's the Bush way!
Yes, our Prseident even realizes that occupying as many countries around the world as possible is the best way to spread American ideals.
We are truly lucky to have this great man. I suggest that at 10:00 AM EST, we all stand up in unison and shout -- HOORAY FOR BUSH!!!

Good Night, 'Feather! One last recap, for those who came in late...
We've been working on this project for well over a year.
For quite a long time, we floated in the ocean, seemingly idle, while we gleaned Uranium ions directly from the ocean currents.
There is quite a lot of dissolved Uranium in the ocean. We got ours there because we didn't want to attract the attention of certain agencies and individuals to our plans.
We were also lightening our structure, and using the materials thus gained, as well as others that were purchased, to build our Shuttles, our internal structure, set up our ecologies and food and oxygen production facilities, and innumerable other tasks.
We sent an expedition to the Moon, proving the concept of Nuclear propulsion, and on December 27, we took off from the vicinity of Eniwetok Atoll in the Pacific, directly into orbit, and then onward to Mars.

There is quite a lot of dissolved Uranium in the ocean. So what you're saying is the water isn't safe to drink?
And if we did, would our urine glow in the dark? Or be explosive?
To: Genesis defender
It has never been safe to drink ocean water.

It has never been safe to drink ocean water. Sorry. My question assumed the ocean water had been treated with the desalination equipment.
To: bentfeather
That's cool! It looks like one of those newer contraptions.

Most of the ocean water we processed was simply passed through. What we were interested in was the dissolved material.
If anything, we were purifying the ocean.
This only shows a fifty by one hundred meter facility operated by Japan. We had over three square miles of collector surface operating, and like the Japanese, we found a lot of good stuff.

Ah yes, killing two birds with one stone: getting much needed uranium and purifying the planet's water.
But back to my hypothetical question: if one were to drink the desalinized water before we extracted the trace elements of Uranium, would our urine glow in the dark?

Where did you get the idea the water was being desalinated? We extract what we want through selective adsorption.
To answer your question, however, no, but there are ways to do that without poisoning yourself.
A little extra Vitamin C and a black light will get you started.
Or see Sionnsar about how to squeeze a cat to get the effect you want.

Where did you get the idea the water was being desalinated? I was merely using that idea as part of my hypothetical question. Plus, selective "adsorption" sounds more fun.:P

Sounds like some fun party tricks!
To: Genesis defender
The adsorption is done by special cloth designed to attract those ions we are interested in, such as molybdenum, vanadium, and uranium.
It's the opposite of washing clothes. Essentially, we are getting the cloth dirty with material we wish to collect.
Purifying the uranium is as difficult and tedious for us as it is for anyone else. I won't go into specifics, because just now we are trying to restrict the ease of access to this technology to those on Earth who happen to be moderately sane.
Suffice it to say that we needed, and used, all the time we were floating in the ocean to good effect. All of our shuttles were fully fueled, and we have sufficient reserves for our stationary reactors and for refueling the shuttles.
The other materials came in handy as well. You can never have too many ways of dealing with high-temperature plasmas and such.
Party tricks? I have no idea what you're talking about ...

Nope, not a bad day.
I've spent a lot of time this afternoon/evening trying to catch up on work that I missed while I wasn't well.
To: fanfan
How are you today?
Got sun? Lovely gray skies and rain... well, mostly sprinkle but sometimes up to light rain. Not worth pulling out the rain jacket.
But not a good day. I haven't talked about it here, but the goodwife is having problems following what is a relatively common surgery these days. Usually patients go home the same day but for pain issues she was kept 3 days before discharge... and this evening she was checked back in.

That sounds like infection?
I hope she has the best doctors, and will pray for a quick recovery for her, and strength for you.
Keep us updated.
