VANITY: "Not Ready To Make Nice" (Lyrics to New Dixie Chick Song)
Q Country 92.7 ^

Posted on 03/15/2006 6:54:39 AM PST by RabidBartender

Not Ready To Make Nice

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting

I'm through with doubt
There's nothing left for me to figure out
I've paid a price
And I'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I know you said
Can't you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it

I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind sayin'
It's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should

Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting

But the stunt they pulled at the Country Music Awards was unacceptable. They just had a habit of speaking badly of their fellow Country Singers, and that's just tacky.

[FUTK] I remember it well. Tacky and childish. TK has moved on...I wish the DChix would too.

You bought the CD?

The Dixie Chicks are dead to me. And I used to be a fan.

I'm sure their music is selling really well in New York and such, yea right. I guess if you're going to burn a bridge might as well burn it good.

They also wrote a bashing song about Lubboxk Tx and how "small minded" the people there are. It will also be on the album.

What the hell are you talking about. She said it, apologized for it, then took back her apology. Shes a phucing spineless coward of a lemming and you praising her for such makes you even worse!

In her latest interview to EW she now claims she was NEVER COUNTRY! LOL~

"For me as a person, [The Incident has] completely altered the course I was on. For me to be in country music to begin with was not who I was. I liked Martie and Emily's playing, but I did not grow up liking country music. And I guess I was ignorant to the fact that the stereotypes behind country music were true — and it was disappointing. And so at this stage, I can never... I would be cheating myself and not setting a good example for my children to go back to something that I don't wholeheartedly believe in. So I'm pretty much done. They've shown their true colors. I like lots of country music, but as far as the industry and everything that happened... I couldn't want to be farther away from that. And it's easier when you're financially set, because you can be a little more ballsy, and just do what you want to do. I don't want people to think that me not wanting to be a part of country music is any sort of revenge. It is not. It is totally me being who I am, and not wanting to compromise myself and hate my life. All of my anger... I've pretty much gotten past that. Writing the album was therapy."

Of course COOUNTRY was the first genre they pitched their new album too. They have no integrity.

No sir. I will never buy another Chicks CD. I still have Wide Open Spaces, Fly, and Home sitting in a box in the basement, but I will not be buying this one.

Actually, I don't think it even comes out until May. But the lyrics were posted on my local station's website. They played the song early this morning and then again at lunch and encouraged people to go to the station's website to vote on whether they should start playing the Chicks again.

>>someone ping Laura Ingraham.

The lyrics were read on her show the other day and she said they stole the title of her book. Is country radio going to play this (not sure if they've moved their sound closer to rock)? I know after awhile country stations started playing their music again (post-boycott), past hits like "Travelin'
Soldier" and "Cowboy Take Me Away"

From radio-info.com's country board:

http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=677429&Board=country

"Jay F" writes: "I just read on the Drudge Report that the new Dixie Chicks CD will contain a hardcore anti-Bush song. Will country radio play the new Dixie Chicks product? My guess is that in a competitive situation, many stations will play it safe and boycott the Chicks, their negative scores are just too high.

"Even if Bush's poll numbers are down, many of his remaining supporters are country music fans. Besides, even the country listeners who dislike Bush have an even greater dislike for entertainers who feel the need to preach their politcal opinions."

I don't know about the rest of the country, but Kansas City's 2 big country stations 94.1 and 104.3 still don't play any Dixie Chicks. 106.5 and 103.9 (I think these are rural country stations) don't play them either.

I don't know what these stations are going to do with the new song, but I can't imagine it will come across too well. Particularly since it is a "FU" song to anyone who didn't care for their actions.

The poll on my local station's site is frozen, so I guess it may be broken at 61% against playing them again and 39% for.

I'm not a big fan of Freeping polls, but here is the site:
http://qcountry927.com/home.php

The poll is on the left side of the page. I think you can vote multiple times, not that I did that or anything.

Again, I thought the chicks were DONE with country. Its speaks volumes htat they are now running back to it! LOL~

Maybe you should forward that your stations and ask them why they would even try to get the chicks back on COUNTRY radio as its clearly not who they are, and according to nat never was.

Doesn't this song make you think what's really on their mind is that it felt "cool" to be "rebels," and now they realize that one incident is going to define them for most people? The DUmmie fans they earned have moved on to praising other "artists" like George Looney, and now the DC's want some of that lib-lovin', so this song is like a signal flare sent up; "Don't forget US, your FRIENDS who called Bush names!"

WKLB in Boston, which gets surprisingly good ratings for a town that traditionally hasn't embraced country, would probably play it. After awhile, they brought Dixie Chicks
back to their rotation and the program director said something to the effect of "we don't want to banish them forever;
we know they still have fans," etc., and the occasional DC
cut from the past pops up there.

A post on radio-info.com about the DC controversy guessed that more liberal areas like the East Coast would be more likely to play it. So yeah, they won't be "Banned In Boston"...

Yep. You are correct. This song makes Natalie look like a DUmmie.

What gets me is that it sounds like she thinks SHE is the one who is still contemplating forgiving the fans who don't give a crap about her any more.
