Folding@Home Official Stats ^ | 3-13-2006 | soccer_maniac

Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 164th place (with 992 CPUs - nearly 19,000 completed Work Units and 2,982,241 points)

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 8 folding threads)

I want to see us in the top 50 so we show up on the first page

We'll get there, it's just going to take some time. We've got a good engine here with all these folks. Others have just had a whole lot of a head start.

Did you see that the web site is now up and running where the 48,000 boxes of documents seized in Iraq are being posted? I heard someone in the folding thread mention it earlier. Here is the link to the FR thread and the web site is in the first paragraph:

Go Huskies. Predicting that the Dawgs go all the way. Tonight Utah St. will be the first of many to go down. Final four here we come!

The graphs in reply #62 have been updated.

The DUmper's trend continues with another bad day. You should have enough of a buffer to get through the weekend.

My prediction, is that we slide past SISD, around midnight or so.

I'll be great, to finally put that team to bed, since it's the only one that has ever passed us in the rankings.

I was wondering why so much attention was being paid to SISD. BTW, who are they?

They blew by us in the standings, late December, and are the only team that has ever passed us in the standings.

It's been a thorn, since then, but we're about ready to put that baby to bed.

Who are they? .... They're a school district in Stephanville, Texas.

Seems like over christmas break, their IT guru got permission to borg all the school's computers, and they took off like a rocket.

hehehehe... finally reached their apogee, and we're still in boost phase. :)

"If you know of a better way to prevent the second start up from going into non optimized mode, please let me know"

I finally got around to some back reading of this thread. On my machines the SSE boost almost exactly doubles the folding speed (time per frame is half).

I think you can use the -forceasm flag to always get the SSEBoost. I haven't actually tried it, but your post has tweaked my interest.

I just tried running FAH502-Console.exe -configonly -forceasm and it gave me stern warnings about the using the -forceasm flag, but I can't tell it did anything.

Has anyone else used this and can give some pointers?

Yeah. That's a good definition. I can keep adding for a bit yet. :)
