Good job on the weight loss. I'd be happy to participate. I started on Jan 2, and have lost 34 lbs so far. I am doing Weight Watchers Online and also recording my weight with a few other family members on a website. I walk 53 minutes a day on a treadmill. I feel so much better.

Good luck to all.

Our daughter was cruising the Sirius music channels on our DISH network one day and found the Trance/Techno music station. I told her it would be a great channel for just getting up and doing the WATP moves to! It is a pretty fast beat, so I couldn't do it for too long. At the weight I am, I shouldn't bring my exercise heart rate up over 135 beats per minute. Any more than that is not effective for fat burning. I wish I'd known that when I was doing floor aerobics. I went to classes for two years, and lost almost no weight because I was working out TOO hard! Sounds wacky, but it's true!

Too much aerobic exercise "wastes" muscle, and muscle is good for sugar and fat metabolism.

It was tough. Probably not too healthy. I'm at 1,400 to 1,700 calories per day now, maintaining. If I go down, I eat more normally. If I go up, I eat less until I reach the target weight again. Since I weigh myself every day, I always know what I can have that day.

If you have excess fat, your body uses that and some muscle to make up the rest. I lost a bit of muscle, too.

I know just what you mean. See my post above.

I have a ton of CD's loaded into the laptop and I've made a bunch of WATP playlists to keep me motivated. I can only listen to Leslie for so long before I want to slap her. LOL!

Saw your profile. My son's best friend (20 years old) has Chiari and MS. Doctor said he had 10 good years left. Sad.

From what I've read, muscle is basically good for you, and as you get older, your body loses muscle, so you need to do resistance or weight work to maintain it. Muscle is good for sugar and fat metabolism. My problem is that weight training ALWAYS leads to joint problems, so I have to back off. My body seems to resist muscle formation - kind of a Johnny Carson physique.

Can I be on your ping list? Thanks

My husband and I started on Weight Watchers back in Nov - he has lost 20 lbs - I have lost 5. I'm only 4' 11" and it is difficult - I know I need to get on the treadmill etc to shake it up a bit - but I can't get motivated - my son is getting married in June and I really need to lose another 5. I am sensitive to carbs and thinking about trying Atkins for a week or so - anybody here on Atkins?

Thanks

From what I've heard, Atkins is the best way to lose weight fast, but there is a tendency for backsliding and eventual weight gain. The body does need carbs.

I love to work out with Leslie, she reminds me I have a lot to be thankful for, even when my fat pants don't fit! Please add me to the list. I am pretty faithful with Atkins, but with two young ones, I have a hard time finding the time to exercise. This would be a good reminder.
