Personally, I felt Kong should have swept the Oscars--all categories, in fact. In fact, it should have been an ALL King Kong Oscar ceremony. I loved the film.
The only one in the running for best movie that I saw was Crash. I expected to hate it, but ended up enjoying it. At least Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding didn't win, that would have been insufferable.

King Kong was one of a few movies I wrote down to see during the oscars....along with Walk The Line.
I own Crash and have watched it 3 times....absolutely brilliant scenes but found the overall point hard to fathom.
Torie offered this fine analysis:
"Crash seems to go nowhere while it actually does go somewhere. It treats the issue of where prejudice ends and humanity begins."

King Kong was an empty headed popcorn flick for the Sheeple. I myself thought it was OK. They spent way too much time on the island. It was better than those stupid Hobbit movies, however.
Happy to see that justice prevailed this year at the Oscars. Other than Ang Lee and George Clooney, those who deserved to win did.
