Food TV's Rachael Ray: Hottie In The Kitchen
Post Chronicle ^ | 2/16/06 | Mike Baron

The food network has become the station where the hosts and chefs look, well, good enough to eat.

At the Food Network, E.V.O.O. means extra-virgin olive oil. But theres also a bit of T&A on hand and that definitely does not stand for tomatoes and apples.

The Food network has a subscriber base of 88 million, a group that has blossomed in its 13 years from 6.5 million members in 1993.

Much of the success can be attributed to Emeril Lagasse, who strapped the fledgling food tv network to his back and carried it through the nineties.

But a new savior has arrived and frankly one that quite a bit easier on the eyes. If I may steal a phrase from the food diva, she's Yum-O!.

With four – count 'em hour - shows on the Food Network, including "30-Minute Meals," in which she puts together meals in under 30 minutes silly, and "$40 a Day," in which she dines while traveling on a budget - two best selling cookbooks out this year, a new magazine - Rachael Ray knows how to heat up things up in and out of the kitchen!

Ray is a 37-year-old wholesome hottie who has taken the Baton from Lagasse to become the face - and body - of the Food Network.

Ray is author of 11 books and namesake of a new magazine. She has also posed in skimpy shorts for a little FHM "action".

She's also the first foodie expert to do a talk show, which is set to air next fall. The show will focus on "taking a bigger bite out of life."

Today's chicken cacciatore looked pretty good. And easy.

My husband adores Rachael's little "giggle". When I imitate it it sounds like Dr. Frankenstein's assistant, Igor. I think I've ruined it for him. ;-D

Missed it.

She has a mushroom spread recipe that looks awful but tastes fantastic. Even my kids liked it!

Even if you don't like Ray, she has a spaghetti soup that's really easy and the kids will love.

They always have the camera just at the right angle so that if the close up is of her hands while she is working the food, you also see a shot of her cleavage.

I can't watch her.

Me neither. I'm sure she's perfectly nice, but there's something about her that just grates.

LOL, figures! :-)

I know Rachael got her start, as she often tells it, showing folks how to make good, home cooked meals in 30 minutes or less (in the time it takes you to watch this show...). But as some of my family members can attest, unbeknownst to each other, I was doing the same kind of thing, and sharing it with others, at the same time. Sigh, I wouldn't mind the book deals.

But I like her. I've tried some of her recipes, 'yum-o'! First cacciatore recipe I ever liked. She can be ... enthusiastic, but better that than boring or stiff or pretentious.

And I see she's got stuff for the guys, too! ;-)
