I'm just suprised it took 13 years for the bears to get sick of him.

Saw "Grizzly Man" tonight, did you?
I caught it during its premiere on Discovery. I think the movie itself is a masterful piece of work by a great director (Werner Herzog).
I think Treadwell is ultimately a study of a liberal mindset dooming someone. Treadwell put a Disney-fied Bambi face on wild nature. He saw himself as a heroic, unconventional underdog fighting to protect the bears, whom he saw as wonderful innocent creatures in a paradise-like nature oasis. He paid the ultimate price.

Not only did the bear win, that guy looked like he had some meat on him, so the bear won twice!
So much for dominance and intimidation as winning tactics among bears.

Darwin Ahkbar. Do not mess with a predator that can reasonably regard you as a meal.

Can we learn a valuable lesson here about Islamic Terrorists? They are wild animals, excuse me...the wild animals just attack for defense and food. The islamists
are just rabid animals.
Hey Liberals, you don't make "nice, nice" with rabid animals.

I think the girl is the real tragedy of the story. The movie makes clear that she didn't want to be there and was afraid of the bears.

It's kind of like "The Blair Witch Project", but with bears.

I haven't seen the movie, but from what I've heard about the guy, he was on a noble mission, but was too naive about the critters to survive.
I'm all for protecting bears...but I ain't nuts enough to think they'll accept me as one of their own. And I'm about the size of a small grizzly.

And in the end, people actually died.

A large but scrawny old bear with bad teeth that a pilot had seen sitting on the brush and dirt pulled over the bodies was shot and killed by National Park Service rangers at the scene after it charged them.
The girl's not the tragedy. The bear is the tragedy. The man and the woman should have had sense enough not to be hanging out with bears. The bear was just doing what came natural.
