I don't have an image of my Win desktop--though it's a factory-installed version of Windows XP Home Edition.
However, there's a new version slated to ship right around Christmas--Windows Vista. From what I've seen, think of it as Windows XP SP2 with some new features and a lot of eye candy.

Wine is the Windows Emulator--comes in several flavors.
Yeah, I was wondering that - it wasn't Windows, but it had Windows applications
Depending on how far back, that could leave a few choices:
If it's more recent--within the past couple of years,, it could be ReactOS, Linux (with Crossover Office), eComStation (the current available successor to OS/2 Warp) or QEMU.
If it's back a ways, my guess would be OS/2. MS did joint work with IBM on developing OS/2 in the late '80's and early '90's, but dropped OS/2 in favor of developing Windows. IBM continued to develop it well into the mid-1990's, and stopped selling it last December.

An uncle of mine owned a place on Adams Road, off Skyline Drive, south of 17. He was 8 miles from the epicenter of Loma Prieta. The house came through fine structurally, but there was over $30K in sheetrock, cabinet and otehr property damage. At the time, he had a two piece garnite dining table with the top designed with recesses that fit over the two towers of the pedestal base. Just the top weighed around 800 pounds. Durnig the quake, that 800 pound slab jumped up high enough to get off of the tops of the towers and nearly slid off onto the floor. It's truly amazing what a well-engineered structure can handle. Had anyone been home, at the time, they would have been in far greater danger of injury from flying/falling furnishings and decorative accessories than from structural collapse.
We CA Natives look at earthquakes more as an opportunity to engage in some really righteous terra-surfing than anything else. Hey, if it's gonna get ya, you'd be a sad sack indeed not to go out having fun.

Amy set up some nice stuff for today's "finest" post, (as well as a few of my poems), then she was taken ill. So she had Mama Bear do the posting.
Thought you might want to take a gander, and celebrate "Spring."

"reduced so it doesn't bog me down too much"
*Six applications open, God know how many on the tray* It's the 26 kbps dialup connection I'm concerned with.

It's the 26 kbps dialup connection I'm concerned with. Ouch! I thought I was bad with 45KBPS - and I'm upgrading to to double that in a few days!!
Goodnight, Sion!!

We hope to see the Yellow Face tomorrow, even if the temperature is still in the 50's. Vlad and I have grown used to sun in the living room when we're sitting around!

The sapling dealt with the monkey swinging around it with the same calm detachment as a washing mashine delicately spin-cycling a bowling ball.
LOL! Good effort, but what you've given me is a simile. We're still talking about the monkey instead of identifying the monkey with the bowling ball, or the washing machine, or whatever. Maybe something more like this:
The rainforest monkey is usually treated to the rinse cycle in nature's washing machine, or,
The squeaky old washing machine was a monkey in the kitchen.

We hope to see the Yellow Face tomorrow Well, we hopess it visitss you then...
Precipitation is returning here: lovely dark gray skies, gentle rain wafting down upon upturned smiling faces, the soft pitter-patter as it slowly descends from skylight to floor...
(And Californians running from car to building lest a drop touch them and they melt away...)
