Perpetual motion machine impossible?
I assert that we're surrounded by them, but haven't uncovered their secret. We know tham by names like electron and proton. These continually exhibit a monopolar charge without evidence of any work to maintain it, nor evidence of any equal and opposing charge.
Now, I might further assert that perpetual motion is, truly, not possible, hence the atomic particles do not violate the Laws of Thermodynamics, and the source of their exhibited monopolar charges is simply an as-yet undiscovered aspect of our physics, though its nature has been hypothesized.

I think dogs are capable of perpetual motion!!

Not the Irish Wolfhound.

Like cats, Irish Wolfhounds like to sleep a lot. A Jack Russell, on the other hand would pretty much be in perpetual motion if it only conserved some of it.

Had an enjoyable time at dinner with our local host. Thank you, NicknamedBob!
(But now it's time to think about starting packing for the journey home...)

Be sure to let us know how your meeting works out. All of them. Or both of them. Conference presentation went pretty well and the crowd was paying attention, based on the questions we got after.
My trip to Seattle is now slated for the end of April...let me know if that's good or not.
Um. Might be.... I have East Coast meetings (Maryland, again) the 24th to noon on the 28th, but will be trying to get home on the 28th. How does that work?

Not yet. It's cold and rainy. Please tell me it's going to stay that way through Friday? Yellow Face was so bright here this morning it woke me up, escaping past all the hotel room curtains. (Why is it I never learn to ask for a room on the north side of the hotel? I always know which side of the airplane is antisunward.)

All, please welcome FriendDownUnder to the Undead Thread!
Have any of you played the Men at Work card yet?
Welcome to the thread, FDU.

I like dogs. Dogs are great!!!
Some people like dogs, some people like cats.
My parents have three dogs and a cat. The other two cats they had disappeared. Maybe they were eaten by coyotes because they live in the middle of nowhere. The dogs got along well with the cats and didn't bother them at all.

this thread often functions more like a message board.
In that spirit, I offer my fellow denizens of the Undead Thread the following tidbit of goodness:
Who's up for a little "Walk on the Wild Side" (LITERALLY, it seems), then? ;-)

Check my tagline. It be some of that fine near-national-anthem's lyrics.
Thanks for the welcome, too. :-)

I am very nearly somnolent as a result of the consumption of mass quantities.
Boy, that's one way to shut me up.

it sounds like things in your life are moving very quickly! Will you be able to finish your schooling here, if need be?
Actually, I'm not studying at the moment. I'm meant to be looking for some temporary work right now, to pay the bills (internet, food, lawyers, etc.) We're hiring a U.S. Immigration Attorney shortly - I'm currently looking online for one with knowledge of the Sydney Consulate, which is where darling S.O. will be putting in my application to return to the U.S. We'll be filing the necessary paperwork in Brisbane tomorrow, in order to get married here. They make you wait one month and one day before the license is valid, so we'll be tying the knot quite soon after that! (We already refer to each other as husband and wife, but this will make it all nice and legal-like.)
It's tough right now, as darling S.O. can't work here at the moment. If we go to NYC, I'll probably get a part-time job in addition to (hopefully) studying for my Masters' in Psychology, a qualification which will serve me much better both here and in the United States than my current Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (oh, the silly thing we do when we are young).
I'll keep you posted, sure enough. Right now, I have emails to write and phonecalls to make, to keep the wolf from the door. (Oh, and the car's been playing up of late, too. My dear old 1988 GM Holden Astra's been running strangely ever since I accidentally let the fuel tank run dry - although, at $1.20 a litre for petrol here, this is kinda understandable, I'm sure you'll agree...)

Mister? Eh, not last time I checked. ;-)
The original Croc. Dundee was okay, but twenty million of Ole Hoges' compatriots (including Yours Truly) kinda wish he had stopped there.
*Considers re-watching that movie to pick up some tips on how to deal with NYC hoodlums* ("That's not a knife, THIS is a knife..." etc.)
