The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I know that song... some things are too much part of common culture for even me to have missed out on ;-)

Leavin' on a Jet Plane...

Appropriate. 'specially since I'm sitting in an airport... :-)

Put a new laptop on your Wedding Wish List. Hey, you don't ask, you don't get! You or Talon might have some well-to-do relative who might want to 'gift' the happy couple a new computer.

Hmmm... I'm trying to think what well-to-do relative I have who actually might like me.... personally I'm just hoping my grandparents all manage to behave themselves. I think my mother is having nightmares about having to break up fights between her parents when they see each other for the first time in twenty-plus years.

Tell her to have her Super Soaker ready to douse them if they start acting up!

Hehehe. That'd work for me. I'm not that worried about it, but these are her parents so of course she's paranoid.

No one wants a wedding disrupted because of silliness. I suspect something similar will happen when any of my brother, Pat's 3 daughters gets married. He was an absolute JERK to his wife, and was just astounded that she left him. How could she? Anyway, he's been ugly to her ever since, especially since our family has still remained friends with her, and include her and the girls in all we do. We even invite her to our Girl Cousin reunion! Anyway, his oldest daughter finally sat him down and told him exactly what they thought about him, and that their mother NEVER said ugly things about him in their presence. They were just smart enough to figure out for themselves what a A$$hat he'e been all these years. Stupid jerk STILL doesn't believe it's his fault. But he'll pay for that because his girls won't want to have anything to do with him unless they're forced to. A wedding would be an example.

I feel for them... at least in my family it's a generation back. I just figure we won't make a big deal out of it and hopefully they are respectable adults. And if they aren't, well then, my sisters can just forget to invite them to their weddings in a few years.

Man... I thought about calling home today and claiming Talon and I had just eloped. But that would have been too evil. Oh well.

Ah yes. The mother of all April Fool's jokes.

heh, yes there are however, being right six months at a time is sufficient. I understand your dilemna, adding/subtracting four hours at time would be a bit difficult.

Good song, many memories evoked by PPM's harmonies. However, I would hazard a guess in Ramius' case, leaving San Fran would evoke "Happines is San Fran in my rear view mirror".

Got the back yard fence restained, well, first coat anyway. We did the new nayber's side last spring, our side this spring before the flowers come up. Worked on my suntan, well, had my cap off anyway.

I got the small raised bed planted and did some more digging around thesunroom. Put bulb fertilizer out around everything and turned the compost pile.

Think I'm finished with outdoor work for the day.

I must be losing my touch. Got the faucet fixed without even having to cuss.

Guess I could go and cuss anyway. :)

Of course now the house looks like a bomb went off inside. Need to start cleaning.

~sigh~

It's a lovely song. I have a few others in mind that work perfectly for me when it comes to Ramius. :-D

heh, good job on the plumbing, no cussing? impressive.

Today is Downtown 'Alley Days'; the powers that be are commencing to tear up downtown and 'improve' it; since it will take about 2 years to finish, this is the big party to get everyone in festive mood for detours, missing sidewalks, street tree removal, and repaving.

Jerry's Bait Shop (bar) is having their first annual April 1st Party. Live bands, Captain Morgan tatoo girls, etc. etc. Liking good music as we do, this is painful to hear. It would have been much better had they not provided the musicians with electricity. But such is life in a rockin burg.

I know I am. Somehow 7+ hours is about my limit. Still didn't finish the list.

Was headin' in to take a shower. Thought the Mrs. was in the bathroom. I realized ~just in time~ it was Nana (she uses our stand-up shower cause the bathtub in her bathroom is just to risky).

s'cuse me whilst I go bleach muh eyeballs...

Heh...

Well, we're almost done with Rosie's fence... Have the wire stretched on three sides... just one small section to go. Then pictures :~D
