The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

On Monday.

I'm trying not to think about it yet. ;-) I think it'll be a good job, but I hate that initial stage where you feel completely useless and stupid and out of your element.

I still have days where I feel like that. :)

OK - I'll get dressed and be over :~D

Monsters found a real mouse

Proud of himself as he appears to be, I'm afraid I must keep Pippin honest. Gidget actually "killed" the thing.

I can't remember about pruning hydrangeas and lilacs. Some bloom on new branches, so you may want to check before you start whacking away. Maybe prune just as soon as the older branches have finished blooming so you'll know which ones you need to shorten.

Heh heh! Matthew asked me "Does this mean he's just a mule?"

I just called the OSU bookstore to inquire about just buying a tassel and hood for Steve (since I'd found and ironed out his old bachelors cap and gown) and the guy told me "Well, he can wear his old bachelors cap and gown, but the Masters gown *is* different...has different kinds of sleeves and is made of better material. It's what they want for the OSU-Tulsa regalia."

So I guess that means I should get him the whole kit and caboodle. I don't want him to stand out as different.

But I ain't buying nuthin' till after April 21st! Heh heh!

Vey smart! I'm thinking I'm just going to buy a tassel for Clare in the 'school' colors. I doubt she's interested in wearing a mortarboard, and we do have a graduation gown she could wear. I can figure how to make the tassel work, maybe on the front of the gown at the neckline.

I'm hoping to have a get together with our family after we get down to MS and do a graduation 'ceremony' for her there to present her diploma to her. We can have SirKit's brother celebrate Mass, then we can PARTY!

That sounds so neat! Having a family member do the Mass sounds so nice and something Clare will never forget!

Good Job Pip! Even if he did have some help. His pose reminds me of the ones they take of deer hunters posing behind their "kill". LOL!
