The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Back. I forgot the brush...and that he needs bowls...and that I don't really have anywhere to *put* the food, for fear of mice.

Well...he's got enough sample foods to get him through today. Tomorrow maybe we can take a longer ride to somewhere like Petsmart or Fred Meyer for the other things.

Get a plastic container like we have to keep mice out of it. Ours will hold 40 pounds.

If you forgot the brush, bowls, and didn't get food, what ~did~ you get? :~D

Oh, I got the food...just don't want to bring it in and open it until I have a place for it...

Did he enjoy the ride?

He didn't complain in any case. I think he'll get so he enjoys riding...if only because it means he's with me.

Nnngh... I am trying to decide if I was food poisoned at lunch or if the bus ride really upset my stomach. I got suddenly naseous halfway home and it hasn't stopped yet. Darn it, I want to go to kickboxing in an hour and a half but right now I can barely stand upright.

Now I'm wondering if he's settled in enough that he'd more or less rest nearby if I attempted digging a post hole with him on a long line tied to something.

Hm.

He probably would...

Does that mean you're wanting to get to work on fence?

I'd better get *something* done today. And he seems content to just be near me. Of course, that's in the house. Outdoors may be another story...but I'd kinda like to try.

Are there any more of the long spikes in that bucket or did we only bring over enough to do what we've done already?

I just hope he's able to cope with being alone. He's realllly people focused, once he's checked an area over a few times.

I suppose once he understands that there's a daily routine, and my coming home at the end of the day is part of that...he'll be OK. I hope.
