Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You can do container gardening anywhere...they're fun! I've grown radishes and carrots in containers, along with bush-type tomatoes. Not to mention herbs.
I'm actually growing some beets in a container right now.

AAACK! My Girl Scout Cookie order is here. I didn't order any Thin Mints!!!!
What was I thinking?????
To: Corin Stormhands
Today is Friday?! That's a really cool trick since yesterday was Wednesday. How'd you do that?
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, there are some other students... in our department, "psych major" is code for "ditzy girl who is taking some non-CS major" and when the guys say it, there's overtones of "and she won't date me, darn it".

ACtually I meant someplace that had a decent growing season, containers or not.

You can always get some more cookies if you want them. Just ask the girl who sold you the ones you have. Or see if any troops are having booth sales. Our council is having those now. Clare and I are doing one on Saturday morning at a local credit union. The Council should have a Cookie Pantry where they keep them stocked for a while.

I got Samoas and Do-Si-Dos. Gonna prolly freeze 'em since the trainer's been readin' me the riot act about my diet (or lack thereof).
I'll find some Thin Mints. I just can't believe I actually didn't order any.
To: Corin Stormhands
You know, I really need to work on my reading comprehension skills.

ACtually I meant someplace that had a decent growing season, containers or not. Oh sure, you'll prolly move back to Mississippi just about the time I move to Connecticut...
To: Corin Stormhands
Heh, a move may be sooner than you think! ;o)

Well, Thin Mints can be a distraction...
To: Corin Stormhands
For some reason, I read what you posted and thought you got Thin Mints, but didn't want them. Got me all excited, it did...
To: SuziQ
Ohh....I see...yeah, it's a short season up there.
Once, Steve and I were living in a rent house and couldn't dig up a garden so we planted everything in black containers (he got them as surplus from where he worked, the Tyler rose industry.) Then the rose place downsized him and we had to move...we moved our entire garden in the back of a U-Haul-It! Heh heh!

Mississippi...I'd really love to visit there. I think of Spanish moss in the oak trees, like where I grew up (south Texas bayou area.)
