Last night on "Coast-2-Coast AM" Art Bell started the show saying he was doing well, however, he missed "human companionship" complaining that his cats did not enjoy his choice in TV shows.
Here's you chance ladies.
I once asked my husband i he would remarry if anything were to happen to me.
He said that out of respect for the dead he would wait until after the funeral! :(
Very good point. When you lose your beloved spouse, whether it was expected or unexpected, you would naturally undergo a long period of sadness and grief...during which time you'd have no desire for the "company" of anyone but your departed spouse.
Either this guy is temporarily crazy (due to shock and grief),he's astoundingly shallow,or he wasn't that much in love with his wife.
In parts of Nevada, professional help is legal.
Point taken, but your experience is not necessarily the norm.
I find Art Bell creepy myself, but in talking to many widows and widowers I've found that most miss the companionship; the give and take, having someone there to express emotion, share meals, share experiences.
Heck, even when my dog died I missed companionship. There is nothing inherently "wrong" about that.
This reminds me of one of my favorite WC Fields lines:
Man:"I heard you buried your wife the other day"
Fields:"I had to...she died"
I find nothing wrong with seeking companionship. I do it via hobbies, activities etc. When I come home and the house is empty, it's very soothing (yes, odd for a lot of folks, I know).
I've just seen so many people miserable who've married just to have a body under the roof. Seriously, folks they didn't even like or have that much in common with, but they were the only 'marrying' ones on the market at the time.
So Mr. Chrome-Glass-Ultra-Modern finds himself hitched to Mrs. Country-French-Potpourri-Slinger. He's miserable, she is too...but they aren't even sure why.
And I've dated men who didn't want to get to know 'me'.... they were just shopping for a wife. They asked a bunch of shallow questions, decided we 'got along' and popped the question. And they were bumfuzzled when I said I liked being alone.....
For them, 'being alone' was like a disease that had to have a cure. No matter how radical.
To me, someone will have to be pretty incredible to make me want to change my life ;)
He could always go brokeback alien.
--I thought "WIFE" was an acronym--you know, Washing, Ironing, F------, Etc.,---
You are right again of course.
The main thing I'm responding to is the body of the thread and not the headline....which is, I assume the "take" of the poster about Art's comment that he misses companionship.
Did Art say he was looking for another woman? Or did the poster assume that's what his intent was? I can't really tell from this snippet.
If Art is saying he's lonely. that's understandable. If he's saying he wants to fill his void with another woman, any woman that comes along - well that is plain disgusting! (But did he say that?)
Fair enough, I think most of what I was doing was responding to the "Freeper Ladies" comment.
:)
I am quite sure there are some nice women out there but I agree with you here. I could walk into a Las Vegas casino with a wheelbarrow full of silver dollars and not pull a dime out of a one-armed bandit. However, I hit the jackpot 34 years ago when I met my wife. She is an angel and now a piece of my heart. I can't imagine, nor will I ever try, replacing a piece of my heart.

That's good! LOL
My cat is a Freeper, we don't do much TV. Only bad habit he has is dropping pennies in the bathtub, and playing hockey with them.
That girl was hot! Good lungs too! Maybe LeeLoo is available.

If he's missing "female companionship" so much...well, he DOES live in Pahrump...there are "houses" he can go to, right in his town!
I think your premise and this post are in poor taste. Just because he is (obviously) lonely is no reason to make fun of him. What is wrong with people.
no, he didn't say that.
