President Clinton was rushed to a hospital early Friday morning after slipping and falling at the home of golf pro Greg Norman, hurting his right knee, the White House said.
At 1:45 a.m. EST Friday, Clinton was brought in an ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was brought in by ambulance so that his knee could be extended.
The president's personal doctor, Connie Mariano, was called and examined the president as he rode to the hospital.
White House Spokeswoman Mary Ellen Glynn said Clinton was feeling fine and was joking as he was brought into St. Mary's for tests.
"He's fine; he wasn't sedated at all," Glynn said. "It looks like the president will not be playing golf today."
Clinton, 50, was to have returned to Washington late on Saturday, but would probably go back later on Friday, Glynn said. A Friday morning speech on education scheduled in Jupiter, Florida, was canceled.
The president was in Hobe Sound, Florida, to play in a two-day tournament sponsored by Norman.
The two chatted late into the night at Norman's home. Clinton left about 1:20 a.m. EST Friday to go to a separate cottage on the estate where he was to sleep.
Clinton slipped on some steps while walking between buildings.
-snip-
The president was never under any anesthetic and there was no need for a transfer of power.

Actually, if you were not aware of this, you probably wouldn't be on FR. The point of posting it now is obviously because when you tell your liberal co-workers that the current story is another example of the press irrationally hounding a Republican, they of course respond "they did EXCACTLY the same thing with Clinton!!!" Of course we who are here all know this is a lie, but now you have the facts to back that up fresh in your head.
As far as I know, I have never twisted an arm to read a thread, so it always amazes me when people actually take the time to question why a thread was posted on FR.
Incidently, this one was posted in "chat/history."
The only reason the press would have been upset about not learning of Clinton's injury immediately is they wanted to be first on the scene to give the the bj.
