NFL should feel embarrassed

SEATTLE - And now a word about the officiating in Super Bowl XL. Two words actually.

It stunk.

The interference call, a push-off on Darrell Jackson that cost the Seahawks a first-quarter touchdown, was hideous.

If former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin hadn't been allowed to use his arm to get separation the innocent way Jackson did in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, Irvin would have caught maybe 20 balls in his career.

And the fourth-quarter holding call on right tackle Sean Locklear that nullified a spectacular catch by tight end Jerramy Stevens at the Pittsburgh 1-yard line was equally egregious.

Trust me Mike... whenever this SB is discussed, it'll always focus on the Refs.

The Stillers got cheated even more than that "other" team... cuz it'll never be about the play of the game (it was dismal anyway)

XL will always be about the Zebras.
What a shytty way for Jerome to end a stellar career.

No, when this SB is discussed this is what they'll talk about:Seattles first 3 possession went into Steeler territory, but two were stopped beyond FG range so they only got points on 1. Get another 1st down (note Seattle's terrible 5 for 17 3rd conversion rate) and get into FG range that's 6 points they get.
On two consecutive plays Seattle receivers caught almost garaunteed TDs out of bounds. There's another 7 points they missed.
I won't count the missed FG after the blown TD because had they caught the ball there'd have been no FG kick.
But then on the final possession of the 1st half they once again fell one converted 3rd down short of good FG range and missed it, there's another 3 points they missed.

That's 16 points the Seahawks left on the field in the first half, all on drives that had no controversial call and I think no penalties at all. That's why Seattle lost, they had their chances and didn't capitalize.

Petro-Boy, do I need to start posting from the live thread in the Div playoff?

No, the only thing you need is more medication.

Mike, Did they show it live in Iraq? That would be really cool. Hope they have beer where you are.

Hehehehe...

The fact that you keep my threads alive gives credence to your subliminal guilt over this unearned "victory"

C'mon Petro.... let it out.

I think 10 is more accurate.

They did for the Super Bowl that had the Patriots and the Panthers in it (That's when I was in Iraq)

I was home in time to catch last year's although I am 100% certain they carried live last year and this year as well.

We aren't talking about Michael Irvin, we ARE talking about how a certain poster on FR who ISN'T EVEN AN SEAHAWKS FAN, wants to keep whining about a game that's OVER.

You're entertaining. It's like a cat playing with a defenseless catnip mouse.

Unlike most, I want you to continue.

Mike I have to correct you on your tag line. I have not seen the movie but I have heard they are not Cowboys but Sheep Hearders.

BTW, the play of the game was the 75 yard run. It changed the complection of the game. The reverse pass TD was just icing.

and I think no penalties at all.

Just for the record there was a holding penalty on Seattle on their first drive that was declined.

3-9-SEA47 (12:40) M.Hasselbeck sacked at SEA 43 for -4 yards (C.Haggans). Penalty on SEA-S.Locklear, Offensive Holding, declined.

yeah...

well everyone calls it a "Gay Cowboy Movie" :) I am not going to see it, so I don't really mind the inaccuracy :)

Yeah if Seattle can make a tackle early in the 3rd QTR, then it's a different matter, but instead NO ONE touched him.

and another holding penalty on Seattle on their second drive.

3-6-PIT41 (6:24) M.Hasselbeck pass to D.Jackson to PIT 23 for 18 yards (T.Carter).
PENALTY on SEA-C.Gray, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at PIT 41 - No Play.

For the umpteenth time, a question that no one from the Whine & Cheese Club has answered as of yet.

If a defensive back had done the exact same "light" or "soft" push that Jackson had done, and intercepted the ball, should a penalty have been called?

Be honest. If that ball had been intercepted by the Steelers under exactly the same circumstances, would you have a problem with it?

Locklear again too. Starting the game as he would finish. I'll ammend it the next time I smack it down.

and on the third drive.

1-10-PIT16 (2:08) M.Hasselbeck pass to D.Jackson for 16 yards, TOUCHDOWN NULLIFIED by Penalty. PENALTY on SEA-D.Jackson, Offensive Pass Interference, 10 yards, enforced at PIT 16 - No Play.

Them Seattle players just couldn't keep their hands to themselves.

Its like Brokeback football.

I handled that penalty, since they actually got points on that drive. They had a really amazing number of plays in the Steelers end to come out with only 3 points. Really that's when they lost the game. They should have come out of the 1st quarter up 21-0, instead they came out 3-0 and set themselves up for eventual defeat.

Your asking an impossible question to answer. It didn't happen. Period.

He pushed off for a second. Flag, penalty, over.
