Here's another one (from Seattle) Link
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told David Letterman on the "Late Show" Monday that he didn't think he scored on a disputed 1-yard draw in the second quarter of the Super Bowl.Roethlisberger dived for the goal line and was met by Seattle linebacker D.D. Lewis. The head linesman hesitated before signaling touchdown, and referee Bill Leavy did not overturn it on replay review. The score gave the Steelers a 7-3 lead.
"I told Coach, 'I don't think I got in,' " Roethlisberger told Letterman. "But we were getting ready to go for it on fourth down anyway, and I would have run it again. So we would have found a way to get in."
Any other evidence necessary or are you just going to ignore sources for what you heard again?
I read it. I saw it on Letterman. I am agreeing with Ben.
I saw the video on Letterman. Ben stated that he did not get in. I agree with him. If you have any quotes that he has since retracted what he said on Letterman, let them be forthcoming.
He doesn't need to "retract" anything. He is relaying his conversation that took place while the call was being reviewed. He was in the middle of the play, with perhaps the worst view of anyone in the stadium.
He is not saying here that he now believes it is not a TD. He is saying that initially he doubted it.
If you can't tell the difference, I can't help you.

Oh, man.
If you want to split the hairs to the point of his saying "I don't think I got in" does not mean "I don't think I got in," I can't help you.
Regardless of what he said or didn't say, the ball did not break the plane.
No big deal. They would almost certainly have got a TD on the next play. Seattle made too many mistakes and wouldn;t have won, anyway.
Try reading it in the context of the story he is relating.

There is no good evidence one way or another. The play stands as called.

Now that is true.

As a Chiefs fan, I had no dog in that hunt. I was rooting for Pittsburgh because I like Bill Cowher. He was the best DC the Chiefs have ever had, and I was sorry to see him go. He's a great coach and he deserved a SB win. I'm glad he got a ring.
And, no, it is in no way tainted by the inept officiating. It wasn't the officials who caused Stevens to drop four passes, or allowed Parker to rip off a 75 yard run, or fall for the fake reverse when everyone on planet earth -- except the Hawks -- knew it was coming.
The officiating was bad, but it did not decide the game.
"But Ben didn't get in. He has even said so."
You are taking his remark out of context. Picture yourself, going for a touchdown, with guys coming at you from all sides. Your head is tucked, you're "flying" through the air, bodies are under you so you can't see the white chalk of the goal line, but the ball clears the plane. The ref sees it, the fans see it, pictures prove it. You made a touchdown! You come away and say, "Wow, I didn't think I got in." But you really did.
Then some sorehead Seattle fans keep quoting you saying that you didn't think you got in. How sad it would be. Wouldn't it?
Not to mention, it's best to be conservative in this case. Assume the worst: "I didn't get in" and start preparing for 4th down, so that you're not rushing once the call is made one way or another.
True.
TW, if you can't verbally spar on a talk board maybe you should go to the gym and beat on a punching bag that can't punch back.
I was not whining I was stating a fact. The Oilers were screwed by the refs many times when playing the Steelers.
You were stating an opinion, and as such it is subject to dispute. The facts are that the Steelers kicked the Oilers butts year in and year out because they were the better team.
Easy for you to keep posting crap from the safety of your keyboard, fight on STEALER.
You lost and you do not have the grace to accept it like a man. Ungracious losers are whiners.
stupid yankee
Yeah. You lost that one, too.
The ref saw it. Pittsburgh fans saw it. No one else did. Pictures don't prove it by a long shot.
He wasn't in. It wasn't a touchdown.
Oh, no, did sonnyboy go running to Daddy for help?
You're wrong, HC, I don't call anybody a whiner other than losers who lack the grace to accept defeat with dignity.
I've told you before not to wallow in the mud with pigs, they like it.
As the apple obviously doesn't fall far from the tree it is apparent that it is too late for such advice, Daddy. ;-)
I saw what he posted and if you ever saw a guy robbed it was Renfro in the corner of the end zone against Pittsburgh. Then again what do I know, but I was sitting with my dad, (Colts 48-49), Jess Hines (All American - Rice) and Weldon Humble (consensus All-American in 1946, Browns and Dallas) and they saw it also.
On the other hand why explain this to an ass?
Oh, and I'm not your daddy either.
CW is not merely a mental lightweight then?

Everybody who plays sports has lost at one time or another on questionable calls. If you're a man you don't cry about it for 30 years.
HC, the Baltimore Colts franchise was founded in 1953, so what "Colts 48-49" were you referring to? It's clear to see where Sonny gets his intellect.
On the other hand why explain this to an ass?
Now that hurt. ;-) I think I should have quit when you called me a pig.
Oh, and I'm not your daddy either.
Yeah, there can be no doubt about that.
Dear dumb ass, the Colts came to the NFL in 53. Y.A. Tittle was my fathers roommate in 48 and 49 BTW.
So, you stipulate that the Colts were founded in 1953, yet you also claim that your Daddy (Colts 48-49), was roommate with Y.A. Tittle in 48 and 49, presumably also with the Baltimore Colts, that didn't come into existence for another 4-5 years yet? I think we have the makings of a script for The Twilight Zone revival, if you know what I mean.
Post 207.
It is crystal clear.
You are both dense and tiresome, to which you may add a complete lack of football knowledge, then again we knew that. The Baltimore Colts were part of the All-American Football Conference which started in 1946 and were one of the three teams taken into the NFL later.
