Oddsmakers favor Colts, not Steelers next season ESPN.com news services
Despite winning Super Bowl XL, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't the favorite next season.
The MGM Mirage has already installed the Indianapolis Colts, who lost to the Steelers in the playoffs this year after being viewed as the favorite much of the season, as 4-1 favorites.
The Seattle Seahawks, who lost Sunday to the Steelers, are the favorite in the NFC at 5-1.
The oddsmakers also have the New England Patriots, winners of three of the past five Super Bowls, at 5-1.
As for the champion Steelers, they and the Carolina Panthers are both listed at 6-1.

Have you looked inside?
I'd take Dilfer's Super Bowl ring over Marino's records.
That's not what I saw, it looked like he pretty much walked up and said it. Doesn't really make sense to say "I know what you're going to ask" if they've already asked a bunch of times.
I know. Indy's slate of opponents last year couldn't have been much worse.
So you do think Dilfer is a better QB than Marino was, then?
The Patriot hats were just ugly last year. They had a brown background. The shirts were nice.
Hey that's kind of cool how they listed that, just gotta insert the position games into those bottom spots for each year and walla. Now I need to go look at the Steelers' site and see if they did that.
The Rooney's have done the same thing in Pittsburgh.
If they stay healthy (knock on wood) they have a good shot at getting the top seed in the AFC.
I bet so would he.
all you saw was a edited clip or sound byte for sports center, the media likes controversy.
no doubt about it, with that schedule they should be sailing into the playoffs with the #1 seed with ease.
I'm thinking 12-4.
Miami: 12-1.
With high-quality staffing additions, like Dom Capers and Mike Mularkey, and the rumored trading of Ricky Williams to Denver, what could possibly go wrong?
yeah....
looking at their scheduling and thinking that they have a chance at winning more than one game in division next year....
8-8 is certainly possible.
In the BIG game, in their primes, I'll take Stabler over Fouts, and I think it's presumptuous of a guy who's never even been to the big game to dog a guy out who has been there (even in a commercial).
12-1? What happened to the other three games?
Sorry Colts but it will be New England vs. Seattle in the next Superbowl with a fresh and hopefully more experienced and better set of refs.
One step at a time.
By the way, how did OSU get Florida A&M in the middle of their conference schedule?
They better do better than 12-4 with that schedule.
