Seattle coach laments having to take on the guys in the striped shirts, too
DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.
Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.
The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.

And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jacksons touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburghs Ben Roethlisberger.
We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. I didnt know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.

LOL!
It wasn't over the goal line in that picture.
Oh........!
Not and idiot, just blind?
Your profanity laced post to me was pulled. Now you just want to revert to standard juvenile insults. LOL
This is not even about POLITICS. This is all about FOOTBALL! Your profile says you're 58 years old, but you act like a 13 year old. Grow up already and stop attacking like an arrogant teenager in the schoolyard. This is nothing to get all worked up about. Your Steelers WON SB40! Be happy and be gone!
If you like Dutch (R.R.), I'll assume you're just stubborn.
Now drop the subject please.
By the way, I'm real stubborn too, but I'm right on this and you are not.
Take care.
You're outta control. Grow up and take a time out. Btw, if you ever make it to Colorado, you can look me up. Live in the foothills just below majestic Pikes Peak. I'll buy`ya a beer or two and we can talk football. And you can tell me how stubborn I am, in person, face to face. Okay? LOL
Right - but they weren't lies ... even Rothenburger didn't think he had the TD and when was the last time you saw or heard of pass interference called on a receiver; then what about that so-called tackle by Hassleback???
Nice try ....
oh well, at least its looking like the Seahawks will be back very strong next year. Hopefully, we can get Alexander the the rest of the important pieces signed.
KIRKLAND Shaun Alexander thinks the Seattle Seahawks should be able to re-sign all of their top free agents.
Will the MVP running back be among them?
Its not an issue where everybody cant get what they deserve, Alexander said Tuesday as players cleaned out their lockers and headed into the offseason. Its not going to be an issue.
So, the question is, Are we just going to do it, or are we not?
Free agency begins March 3.
Alexander, guard Steve Hutchinson and defensive tackle Rocky Bernard lead Seattles list of potential free agents.
The Seahawks have exclusive negotiating rights with their potential free agents until March 3, at which point Alexander and 14 others will be eligible to sign elsewhere.
Alexander led the NFL in rushing last season while setting a league record with 28 touchdowns. He has scored at least 15 touchdowns in five consecutive seasons, another league record.
No one has ever done it before, so it kind of sets the stage, Alexander said.
Last February, the team paid separate $16 million signing bonuses to quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and left tackle Walter Jones. The Seahawks were unwilling to commit similar money to Alexander.
Alexander said those deals should not define his market.
Im the only one in history to do what Ive done, Alexander said. It didnt matter what Matt and Walt did. They do their jobs and they do their jobs very well. Their price is their price and they got what they deserved.
Alexander said he wasnt implying that his contract should exceed the ones Hasselbeck and Jones signed. He sounded amenable to a deal that would make him the NFLs highest-paid running back by one of several measures.
How? Alexander said. In signing bonus? Or in (total payout over) three years or two years or four years or seven years?
There are so many different things. I think in different categories the answer could be yes and in different categories the answer could be no.
I just cant say you can put me in the same class as average running backs.
The Seahawks career rushing leader said his age shouldnt be held against him, even though running backs often become less productive around age 30.
I turn 29 at the beginning of next season, so that is a reality that youre older, Alexander said. But at the same time, with our offensive line and the shots that I havent taken this year, I think that most 29-year-olds probably dont feel the way I feel.
Alexander cited New York Jets running back Curtis Martin, who led the NFL in rushing in 2004 at age 31, and New York Giants running back Tiki Barber, who finished second to Alexander last season at 30.
Theres three more years and Ill still be close, Alexander said. So, if you think about putting in three more great years, that would probably in itself handle some things.
Alexander has never missed a start to injury. He left Monday for the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, but a sprained right foot might keep him out of the game. Alexander said the injury occurred during Super Bowl XL, but that he didnt notice it until the foot swelled Monday.
Alexander is one of seven Seahawks headed to the Pro Bowl.
Im going to get some treatment on it and if I can play, then Im going to play and have fun with six of my friends for one more time and hopefully not the last time, he said.
The Seahawks list of potential free agents also includes fullback Mack Strong, free safety Marquand Manuel, receiver Joe Jurevicius, running back Maurice Morris, punter Tom Rouen, linebacker Kevin Bentley, defensive lineman Rodney Bailey, tight end Ryan Hannam, safety John Howell, cornerback Jimmy Williams, receiver Peter Warrick and defensive end Joe Tafoya.
I'll try to be nice............ it would be great to see that part of this wonderful country where you live................. but if you're too darn blind to see that picture, you will be too blind to pick up the tab when you buy me a beer or two (ten). ;-)
Now come on............... I can't dislike you because I love Ronald Reagan......... one of the greatest men who ever lived.
Now........ I'm tip-toeing again............... by asking you............. did you consider what I said to you earlier............. that Ben was further over the goal line BEFORE that picture you posted was taken?
Listen ............... really! There was a 4th down coming up anyhow, even if 'Your Blindness' prevails.
God................. I just can't keep "fighting" with a FReeper named "Reagan Man". I'm starting to want to come out there and buying you something very nice.
Ronald Reagan was a friend of my grandfather................. I'll tell you more on that......................... if you just admit that you MIGHT be wrong on that "TD". ;-)
Great kindness to you from here................... but, get those eyes fixed, you have to see well enough to pick up the tab.
;-)
I'm comin' out there. Your region is God's Country.
Please be well..................
I did go to the waterfront once; and up the duquense incline (last summer). Also have been to the Church Brewery at least 3 times. Went on a riverboat cruise of 3 rivers at a conference. I want to do the Strip area soon; that looks great! And I've been to Kennywood, although the day I was there, I think I was there with whatever gangs there are in PGH (I am not trying to be insulting, please don't take it that way). It was one of the those end of school days in May and I even saw a guy with a real ankle bracelet! But, I am going again this may. Thanks for the warm welcome to PA. I have signed up to volunteer for Swann and hope to meet you guys!
Sorry, from the looks of this new pic, Roethlisberger didn't cross the goal line.
The game IS OVER. HOw many times can you review the same pictures and from how many angles?
If there is one thing I do well, its beat up an issue. Political or sports related, I don't care. I love to debate! hehehehehehehehehehehehehe
what kind of ronald reagan are you????
I think I used to be married to someone like you !:)
;-)
By the way, the only real way anyone can actually ascertain whether the ball made it to the goal line is by seeing the video and stopping it frame by frame. No one knows whether these stills were taken before or after his furthest progress.
I had the chance to meet with some guys in the organization at one of their homes. They have some very excellent film of the entire game.
A fraction of a second before your still picture on the left, Ben was even further forward and higher in the air. It was clearly a TD then.
But, for the life of me, I cannot understand how seemingly relatively intelligent people are so bent out of shape on this. It was only third down anyhow. We could have scored twice.
;-)
The Steelers had a less-than-spectacular performance and still beat Seattle. But Seattle played very tough defense (at times I swear it looked like they had 13 men on the field), so that less-than-spectacular performance by the Steelers was because Seattle is very good.
Let me add, if you're into boxing at all like I am to an extent, you know that it's all about styles. Certain fighters who take part in a boxing match just meet in the ring, and the result is one ugly night of boxing. Others get together in the ring, and because of their styles, the match is loaded with great action. That's just the way it is. The same thing, imo, happened on Sunday. These two teams' game plans (personalities and styles) just matched up to create a real ugly affair (like Ellen Ratner on FoxNews Sundays). I remember the Pittsburgh/Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl long ago as about as ugly as this one. Sometimes that just happens.

Heres a pretty good article with a decent perspective for you from our local paper.

Holmgren's fine whine unacceptable
BRILLIANT! (sarcasm off)
It's called offensive interference. It's not called nearly as often as interference on the defensive player, but it is not at all uncommon.
Better you stick to croquet.

LOL
I am Dutch on my mother's side, and my mother used to tell me when I was very young that I was very stubborn.
"Reagan Man" -(Dutch) is very stubborn too.
;-)
He says he enjoys debate. I think he likes to instigate contentious bickering more than anything else.
