Seattle coach laments having to take on the guys in the striped shirts, too
DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.
Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.
The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.
(Snip)
And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jacksons touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburghs Ben Roethlisberger.
We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. I didnt know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.

Seattle's offensive linemen were holding so damn much during the entire game, it looked like they were going to ask for the next dance!
The few holding calls on them were many too few, in reality!

I don't think Ben will be dating Ms. Cowher anytime soon. From people in the know, Ben does pretty well with the coed crowd in town (alot of partying with girls from Duquesne University...and the popular location, clubs on the South Side.) Apparently Ben is enjoying his fame these days. And draws a crowd (female) whereever he goes.
The girl in photo is probably a Duq. U. coed...and the photos were taken at a Pgh. club called Halo (on the South Side).

post #279 was a very good summary of the game and the controversy. I was going to make a couple points but you pretty much covered them except fore this:
In the Denver game Bettis ran 10 yards up the middle for a TD. They called Ward for illegal formation pushing the Steelers back and its still 3rd down.
Ben responds w/ a TD to Ward.
So much for officials deciding the freakin' game!

Man, words cannot convey what a mistake it'd be for Ben to date Billy's daughter. UNNNGH. Bad idea.

I echo your assessment. Cowher had to like his chances, having played like crap and still be ahead.

I'm working on Boy Scouts (a week long event) and ice hockey (practice, games and upcoming banquet).
Also looking for a nursing home for my dad. My windshield has a crack, so I had to call the insurance guy and make an appointment to replace it.
I arranged a meeting of approximately 20 disabled veterans and their guests for tomorrow. And I'm not even covering everything here.
So, I apologize for sounding a bit rude. I guess I just moved on faster than some of you.
Must be because I'm more of a hockey fan. And it sucks to be rooting for the Pens!

I'm guessin' this wasn't taken at DisneyWorld. Looks like a fun ride, though...
Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all week! : )

Great find. Shows what hypocrites the whining Steeler apologists on this thread are. So Cowher did in 2002 EXACTLY what this thread is bashing Holmgren for, complete with the skipped handshake.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs02/s/2003/0111/1491211.html You betcha! Great find. Except that just like someone who must hide his shattered football ego behind the skirts of the referees, you have hidden the *ACTUAL* end of the story you pretend to want to get out into the open.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2003/0114/1492795.html
PITTSBURGH -- Steelers coach Bill Cowher apologized Tuesday for charging referee Ron Blum at the end of the Steelers' overtime playoff loss at Tennessee, protesting a denied timeout and costly penalty that set up the decisive field goal.
Well, there it is folks. Cowher admitted he was WRONG and he apologized for being WRONG! He acted like a man. Yet here we have FReepers who want their half of the story to be told, while hiding the actual truth of of the situation. Do you really want the truth? Here it is... once again.... don't choke on it.
1. Denial and Isolation.
2. Anger.
3. Bargaining.
4. Depression.
5. Acceptance
If you be a man like Cowher, you'll get there.

Oooh, busy week. I try to keep my deck clear after the Super Bowl, given that it's my biggest drinking day of the year my #1 goal is generally to dry out my liver.
Sorry to hear about your dad, good luck on that front.
We're cool.
