I was rooting for Pittsburgh but that was a chicken $h!t call.
I have always been a Steelers fan but I couldn't even watch that game. It was clearly alot of bad calls biased against the SeaHawks or favoring the Steelers.

Score should have been 21-17 Seattle
Score should have been 62-3 Stillers. My high school baseball team could have put up 35 points on Seattle last night. Zebras tried their best to hose dem Stillers, but our boys in the black and gold came through anyway!

You are exactly right.
I was just reading an article about Seahawks' injuries that occurred during the game. Three defensive starters for Seattle went down, and Pittsburgh's few (three/four) good plays were when they capitalized on those losses. And Seattle is not blaming their loss on injuries or officials. They are blaming themselves.
I have never been a Seattle fan. Didn't know anything about them until about 6 weeks ago when my son started giving Shaun Alexander stats to hubby every Sunday afternoon. Then I started paying attention. It's hard to be a fan of a team that is a zillion miles away from "home" which is the deep South. But I watched the game last night because of Shaun (hubby and I went to Bama as well). It was not the best officiating I've ever seen. But that's the way things go sometimes. I will admit to an anti-Pittsburgh bias due to the folks we know who are Pittsburgh fans. They are a rather obnoxious lot. lol

I guess you're thinking that losing 21-17 would have been better? Many, many gamblers would have been very bummed by that score.

Ben got that touchdown, barely, but he got it.YES he did. He was above the line when he was about two feet above the surface....... then he was pushed slightly back before he landed. There was another down to run anyhow!

"I feel bad for Steeler and Seahawk fans, because the entire game just sucked out loud."
I do too. Neither team really deserved to win and the officiating.... The worst of any super bowl can remember. It was a huge let down.

I'm not a Seahawk fan and had no interest in who won yesterday. However, I find it quite dismaying that the efforts of both teams are going to be forever negated because of the poor judgement of the referree's yesterday. They blew, simply blew, many plays yesterday. Just like they blew the calls against Pittsburgh against Indy.
Pittsburgh won the game and simply didn't make as many mistakes as Seattle did. But the referrees played a very large role in yesterday's game. That will be the long memory of this game.

Score should have been 21-17 Seattle.Every play affects every subsequent play. You can't just take and give points willy nilly.
As far as I am concerned Seattle won that game. They are champs.
Uh, OK. As far as I'm concerned, monkies are flying out your butt. But that doesn't mean you're going to have to clean up mokey poo.

I believe you are thinking of a different call, though I do agree that virtually all criticism of the officiating is by those that aren't well versed in football and certainly not in the rules. Obviously, the officiating wasn't perfect (when is it ever?), but it had no bearing on the outcome of the game.Well said. The better team won.

It's DU logic to totally dismiss the constant pushing of the DB as the receiver ran down the field. Either call it both ways or don't call it at all.

If the picture shows EXACTLY where the forward motion stopped, it was close - but not close enough.

You should check the rules since you are unfamiliar with "down by contact" merely touching a player with the pinkie on his way to the ground is down by contact. Thus, there was no fumble.
I didn't have a dog in this fight though slightly favored the Steelers because they beat my Bears but this was about as poorly referred game as I can recall and would have preferred to see the game determined by play rather than three horrible calls which handed the game to the Steelers.

What's funny is that the whining Seattle fans don't dispute the receiver pushed off the defender, they whine that it wasn't that hard a push. Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!Or, it was a hold, but everybody holds.

"The Seattle I saw looked totally hapless in the fourth quarter. I really didn't care who won, and still don't, but Pittsburgh won that game, and would have won it even without the questionable calls, IMHO."
I know, and Pittsburgh looked totally helpless in the first. Football is a game of momentum. Every time Seattle established a little momentum, the officials crushed it with questionable call.
I agree that Seattle could have handled the bad calls better and not let it shake them up as much, but you have to admit, it can be demoralizing when you feel you not only have to beat the opposing team but also the officials.
I don't agree. I think Seattle would have won had the officials been fair.

They are the highest rate officials over the course of the entire season and the playoffs.
You are saying they should put the lesser qualified officials in just cause a team from their state (and Juniata is a ways away from Pittsburgh) is in it?
Nope. He was in the highest ratings for that position. He gets the assignment.
