Donations Needed To Cover Cost Of Care
MARION COUNTY, Ore. -- A woman who constantly took in cats is now turning over the more than 300 felines to the Willamette Humane Society. The owner said she wasn't collecting the animals. She always tried to find them homes and was happy when she did.
The WHS staff will begin to collect the cats on Saturday morning.
The staff doesn't know the condition of the animals but the owner has said many suffer from upper respiratory infections. Some also have feline leukemia and ringworm.
WHS and nearby shelters and rescue organizations are working together to care for all the felines.
Donations will be needed to cover costs of medical tests, supplies, staff time and continued care for the cats. You can donate online at the Willamette Humane Society Web site.
Foster families are need to care for sick, injured and shy animals. Adoptive families are also needed. For every animal that leaves the shelter it makes room for another.

I just hope the cats weren't pooping on the pinot noir vineyards nearby...
ping?
Ping!
I've got about 10 I need to get rid off. Any takers?
I think what ails this lady is the same "rescuer" mentality that motivates some people to fall in love with and marry convicted murderers in prison.
Similiar thing just happened here in Vero Beach. Man and woman had appr. 30 cats removed from their trailer home. Come to think of it, this type of thing happened in my home town too, years ago.
This woman is sick in the head.
How sad. The fact that she willingly handed them over says a lot - perhaps she is not a hoarder? Those people usually fight tooth and nail to keep their pets. I went to a shelter the week before Christmas a few years back to help after there was a raid of 300 dogs at one location. Sigh...
Maybe she just felt sorry for these cats and wanted to help. I love animals and think every animal should have a good home. If my husband didn't stop me, I would take in every stray that comes around. We now have 3 dogs and 2 cats. Most of them somebody elses castoff. But I believe if she really wanted to help, she should have been spaying and nuetering the animals to start with. All of our pets are "fixed". If they weren't, we would probably have 300 cats and dogs by now, too. As soon as some poor dog or cat strays up to our door, they get a trip to the vet and then a good home.
