Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow have split, the couple announced in a joint statement Friday night.

The seven-time Tour de France champion and the rock star announced their engagement in September. It would have been her first marriage and his second. He has three children from a previous marriage.

"After much thought and consideration we have made a very tough decision to split up. We both have a deep love and respect for each other and we ask that everyone respect our privacy during this very difficult time," the statement said.

Which reminds me, how is the Ditzy Chicks' career coming along? Haven't heard from them in about two years.

Lance didn't want to ride something that has been ridden more than his bike.

I knew it wouldn't last. Sheryl has a history of failed relationships.

Or, if you prefer something a little less flattering:

(Meow!)

"Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you..."

"The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age..."

I just heard a snippet of an interview last week with Crow saying that she wanted to have a baby. I think she's 44.

That's young, for an entertainment figure. Normally they wait until at least 46 to make sure they are mature enough to handle the responsibility. ;)

Staytrue, I've no idea what you mean here or why you even mention Washington, DC. The Crow/Eder video package was filmed in Texas so if your comment were accurate or relevant, then Crow would have looked Ms. Eder in the eye or presumably so.

Whenver I see Crow I think of that Sarah Michelle Geller - Christina Auguliera skit on SNL: "Dammit, it's still not SKANKY enough!!!"

My God! What did all those bicycling drugs DO to him? :-)

Full Disclosure: I respect his achievements on a bicycle and in overcoming cancer. I still can't believe he had to settle for her, though.

Cheers!

*Snicker* - surprised it took this long;

Now, I personally have not liked Mr. Armstrong since he left his family; to understand what just happened here, however, let's do a little reality drill, shall we?

1. You are Lance Armstrong, 34 and one of the best-known (and wealthiest) athletes on planet earth

2. You have a choice; gee, do I want this 45 year old SKANK, or....a bevy of 25 year old chicksters?

Didn't take him very long to choose 'Door B' did it?

She is truly a maroon if she honestly thought that she could hold on to him.

Disclaimer: I do not approve of such lifestyles and would prefer if Mr. Armstrong returned to his family; the above analysis is just simple reality...

Monoball doesn't marry a flatty socialist. I'm so saddened.

Well, maybe he will race again in the Tour de France?
I read somewhere that he remains on good terms with his ex-wife, so maybe they will get back together again. They have 3 little children together.

I'm grief stricken. This is a national tragedy of global proportions. This just proves that we need to raise taxes....
especially in New Jersey. How else can we cope with events like this?

Actually, eye contact has more to do with cultural differences than having something to hide. And, I am a very shy person. I may take months to feel comfortable enough with someone to really be able to look them in the eye when interacting with them.
