I am glad that you want them to win...you will hve a much happier Super Bowl Sunday that way:)
Do you think those Steeler losses might have been because they were playing against better teams. I see the SB champs on that list. BTW. I don't know anyone in Pittsburgh who thought they were better than New England last year. The 04 Pats were an awesome team, and people here recognized that fact and gave them the respect they were due. But then again, Steeler fans do tend to be football fans, not just homers.
You know as well as I that there is a cloud over Cowher - in the same way as Peyton Manning - that will become a thunderhead if he doesn't get the job done THIS TIME.

Of course that was long before we exorcised that fatass Bambino guy.
The difference is, of course, in that time frame we went thru 5 coaches and 3 owners....
You know, nobody can "win the big one," until they do.
Cowher's teams have missed the playoffs only a handful of times in his 14 years. Many franchises can only dream of such a record. He's not going anywhere.

I'd say about nine out of ten NFL Coaches would pray to have that same cloud over them. 14 Seasons at the same team and made it to the playoffs in all but 3 of those seasons.
I'm trying to be nice here, but only people who don't understand the sport, and the rare combination of conditions necessary to win it all, would consider Cowher's record to be a negative. He's had a phenomenal run.
Really... so why is nearly EVERYONE IN THE FOOTBALL WORLD ragging on the Manning led Colts?
I would say the vagaries of a long, labor-favored MLB season would make it harder to make it to the playoffs year in and year out, then it is in the NFL - and like the Braves, the Steelers perennially come up short.

If you think the 85 Pats "should have beat" the 85 Bears, I'd suggest you lay off the bong for a bit.
Da Bears were the best team in the NFL that year and the Pats were only the best team in the AFC. That just wasn't good enough.
No, but we certainly could have beaten Green Bay, if it weren't for Special Teams CHOKING on Desmond Howard.
Not only that, they stopped to sign autographs and talk with the folks greeting them as they got off the plane. From what I've heard (read on FR), the Seahawks did not stop and did not sign any autographs.
The players honored their teammate by wearing replicas of his Notre Dame game jersey. I don't see that as flahsy or cocky. I see that as the team loving Jerome and trying to show that to him and the world.
Obviously you don't understand the economics of either game. Little items like the NFL salary cap or the fact that baseball allows deep pockets billionaires like Turner to have the best team money can buy year in and year out.
Same goes for your Sox. They spend money on players like drunken sailors and generally have a competitive team because of it. Most baseball franchises don't have that kind of cash to burn so that the handful who do tend to stay at the top of their divisions year after year.
In the NFL, the rules prohibit it. They have a salary cap. Even if you had more cash than the others, you aren't allowed to spend it on players. They have revenue sharing so that be it tiny Green Bay or the NY Giants, both teams have similar revenues. There are no "have-not franchises in the NFL like there are in baseball. The NFL has an official parity policy. The league sets the rules from draft picks to schedules so that the top will be dragged down while the bottom teams will be pushed up.
In those conditions, any team that can consistently stay competitive for over a decade is not doing it by handing out blank checks like a Ted Turner or George Steinbrenner. It's only done in the NFL through good management and good coaching.
So Howard only succeeded because the lowest paid no-name players on the Pats team "choked".
Why not give Howard some credit for a great Superbowl performance? That's called "Class".

But I also remember the 4 missed tackles that allowed GB to stick in the fatal wound, just when we were gaining the momentum.

Those are great pictures. When I was looking for a school for the deaf to send my daughter to in PA, I found one which sent me a DVD for prospective students/parents. The gym this school had was fantastic - new equipment etc. When I asked where the school was able to get such great equipment, they said the Pittsburgh Steelers donated it. I'm new to PA and new to being a Steelers fan - only 2 seasons now - but I have to say - this is a great state.
