Love makes ‘Brokeback’ Oscar favorite
MSNBC ^ | Jan 29 06 | MSNBC

when I finally saw “Brokeback” I found it nearly perfect. It’s more than a love story; it’s really about loneliness, which is a more universal emotion anyway. Some of us haven’t been in love; some of us don’t believe in love. Everyone’s been lonely.

It’s ambiguous enough to argue about endlessly. Heath Ledger’s Ennis del Mar feels like the man in the film — in the one sex scene, he gives rather than receives — and he’s taciturn and bottled-up in the way of men. He talks with his fists, and sometimes he talks too much, but he’s gentle with women and never has a harsh word for his daughters. One could argue he’s what we want the American man to be.

No one couldn't -- unless one is a homo.

He talks with his fists, and sometimes he talks too much

I've heard that homos do that to each other; I can't imagine it...

"Love that dare not speak its name?" This is the gay "passion." Remember last year how they shunned Mel Gibson's movie? Now they are in ecstacy because THEIR world view is being celebrated.

"Love?" No, it ain't the "love." It's the sodomy.

Since when is two adulterous sheep herders getting into homosexuality an act of love? Seems it was an act of betrayal regarding their vows and marriages on film.

Sick stuff IMO.

"Heath Ledger’s Ennis del Mar feels like the man in the film — in the one sex scene, he gives rather than receives —"

Oh, I get it, because 'he gives rather than receives', this is somehow supposed to cleanse the twisted, filthy, disgusting debauchery he performed on his 'partner'. I've had enough of this Humpback Mountain crap; Hollywood has sunk to the deepest, rottenist pits on earth and they're all too corrupted to realize they're rolling in $#!t.

Although as much of the film as I'll see is what is forced upon me through previews while I'm trying to watch something else, I'd gathered that the "beautiful love relationship", in addition to being unnatural, was adulterous.

Yet you are the FIRST I have heard even mention that minor detail.

How low we have sunk in this nation.
