Welcome to the OFFICIAL Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread
January 27th and 28th, 2006
"We're Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight...Let's Celebrate...It's All Right!"
In store for tonight:
I read a fascinating article in the February 2006 issue of Popular Mechanics entitled "The Flying Luxury Hotel." Rather than a cruise ship, it functions as a cruise craft -- but the potential for this new aircraft also extends to military and commercial freighting applications. More information can be found here. Let me know what you think!
Further thoughts:
What is/are your pet peeve(s)?

I have astigmatism which is getting worse with every year that passes. My doctor told me some time ago that I may need Lasik, but I noticed that there are new(?) contact lenses out for astigmatism.
I may have to try them out.

You probably know this, Scott, but I was struck when listening to Israeli National Radio, how that the Orthodox Israelis when talking about God use Ha Shem.

Yes, Hashem literally means "the name" and the proper name is only used in prayers.

That's right. But even in the Shema they substitute Adonai and as you know Deu 6:4 doesn't read that way.
The Lord Jesus made things so much easier--if you know what I mean.

Greetings. how is everything tonight? I was away last night, because I had to go to bed(to get up before 6 this morning) and also I was a bit shy to post after being inpugned on another post (as was nowhere man, paul_denton and pcottraux) by some neanderthan men. I am still fearful that they will leave their man-caves and come over here, and hit me again, but I am taking the chance, at the moment.
Had a fun experience today.(S)
After the swap meet, I got some food, and while driving along, I smelled something burning in my van (a Chrysler T&c, 01). At first I figured it must be outside, because everything was working ok, and the van was driving fine, and sounded fine.
A bit liter, i smelled the burning smell BAD and looked down and saw SMOKE coming out from under the passenger side of the dash. At ONCE, I stopped the van, and looked around, but could see nothing. I opened the hood, and was scared the engine had become low on oil(it wasn't really, about 3/4 of a quart low, not quite to the "add mark". nonetheless, I added a quart anyway. This made no difference of course, and now the engine is a bit TOO FULL of oil. I turned off the vent, and cracked the windows, and the smell seemed to be gone.
I then drove about 25 miles to my house, about midway I closed the windows and turned on the vent again. Near my house I again smelled smoke. I parked the van in my driveway, and started looking under the dash on that side, n ow convinced it was NOT an underhood problem.
I placed my hand on a connector, it felt hot, and the heater blower stopped working. THIS was the problem!! I took a flashlight and looked at the connector it was all MELTED and charred!! I unplugged the connector, which of course disabled the blower, and now, I have to replace the terminal, if I want any heat. I plan to do this tomorrow or Monday. I still have the rear heat.
SO--- wouldn't that be a bit scary, to be driving, smell smoke and see smoke pouring from under the dash? Still I KNEW it couldn't be that serious-- and It wasn't.

I would have some if it didn't interfere with the laws of physics.
Perhaps some day technology will be advanced enough to where you could upload the chips and dip onto the internet and I then can download them for my own enjoyment.

I hope you can get your van fixed soon!
