I am Ready to Leave the USA. Any Suggestions of Where to Live? [DU]

Posted on 01/25/2006 8:43:28 PM PST by DancesWithBolsheviks

DU Thread - I would love to go to Canada but it seems we may be too old by the time we are able to leave in about two years. I am also considering Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico but any civilized non-fascist country will do. Please, any suggestions, help and/or links are greatly appreciated.

I am hoping for no "stay and fight" or "coward" responses. I have two young boys who deserve to have a real future. That is not going to happen in this country.

They never move, they just stay in their mom's basement. Big talk, never any action. I never go over to DU anymore, I just cruise ConservativeUnderground. It's pre-sanitized, and they own the DUmmies.

Yup. Money earned in the Capitalist's paradise used to exploit the subjects of one of the Worker's Paradises, by the people who claim to abhor that kind of thing!

You can't make this stuff up!

Homestead Antarctica and you can make your own laws.

Homesteading land not occupied by indigenous people is a recognized Right. Antarctica only has Penguins. Penguins aren't People. Hence, Homesteading Antarctica is OK.

Zimbabwe would be nice for a DUmmie right about now. A chance to live under a genuine liberal hero, Robert Mugabe.

Exactly. He could be the first American to sneak over the border into Mexico illegally. Think of the possibilities. We could then justify Presixent Bush demanding things of the Mexican gov't. Maybe he can even start his own civil rights" group, or "humane borders" group.

Well, from what I've seen, Mexico City sure could use a social worker or three.

"I hate to tell him that the Conservatives just won in Canada."

That's OK, I'll advise him to consider Albania. I hear they have a lovely coast which is ever soooo beautiful and Just the place for yachting.

Hint: Get a non-metallic boat with a shallow draft, a verrrrry shallow draft.

Actually, with a good education (?) and money (?) two boys CAN have a good future in panama as US citizens, since they can go back to the US whenever they want once they turn 18 and get US jobs. If they are monolingual, education is an issue unless they are in a bilingual private school where they cannot learn less than in a US public school (in english)...

D*mn! I'm impressed with the quick number of responses to my 2nd post ever!:) Sorry I didn't get the link in until a later post, but I was excerpting a DU thread.
I recently travelled to Costa Rica, and I hope the DUmmies don't pollute that lovely country.
Someone on that thread actually mentioned that Panama was a great place to live. I wish I had a DU acct to point out that part of Panama's appeal may well have been the result of the US military ousting its former dictator!

Will the American gov't be handing out maps of the Mexican desert? He may need one. Tell him he should also bring a bottle of Poland Spring. I hear it can get pretty hot.

New Zealand.

A Socialist Democracy(Their definition).

Just give 'er a go. Of course, to qualify, you have to be a productive person, DUmmies won't because union members or teachers don't qualify. You have to have some skills.

I'd consider it because of the climate.

I just have to laugh every time the DUmpsterites threaten to leave the USA when they lose. It's so pathetic. Especially when they claim it's for their children.

What future exactly do they forsee for their children in Cuba or Bolivia or Venezuela? Do they honestly think some gringo refugee family will be honored and cherished?

I can see it now...DUers move to Bolivia so their sons 'can have a real future'. Sons don't want to herd animals or sell snacks by the side of the road, and say "Gee thanks, Dad, for bringing us to Bolivia, you idiot." Dad, meanwhile, learns rudimentary Spanish yet is disappointed in his lack of celebrity status among the local animal herders. Dad looks up "pendejo" in his pocket Spanish dictionary. Sons leave to come back to America where at least they can have some fun. Mom, meanwhile, is in a yoga session and lectures all the animal herders that will listen about their need for abortion. Bolivian government politely asks gringo family why there are here. Dad blames George Bush for his profound misfortunes.
