And now for tonights Dinklemeyer bonus. The idea sounded good at the time, and was based on real-life speculation. I introduced a character named Stephanie, who is good-looking and popular and secretly likes Freddy. But Freddy is not only too shy to talk to her, he is also unaware of her crush. The first panels in this one really show the melancholic nature of the strip at the time. It was more about loneliness and poignancy amidst High School angst. Later on, the strip will take a sharp turn into goofiness, but were not there, yet. Stephanie seemed like a good idea, but I wasnt good enough at drawing at this point to really include 2 hot girls (the other one, Karen, didnt work out either). People who read this would tell me she looked more like an alien than anything. The idea never went anywhere. Stephanie only appeared in one later strip, then was gone along with Karen.
Click here if this doesnt make any sense.
This strip and the next one (that will be run Friday) are I suppose what I can call the first official story (the story runs for more than one strip). And I can also say that despite that milestone, this strip and the next one are my two least favorite Dinklemeyers.
See you Friday, then.
Oh, hey, buddy! Yes, of course, I'll add you right on.
As I mentioned, the full archives of all my cartoons on FR are down at the bottom of my home page. I try to mention that to all people who ask to be on so they can see everything.
You are person number 45 on the ping list. Just thought I'd throw that useless info at you.
THanks!
Don't mention it.
Awesome pc!!!
Love the self portrait. That's hysterical!
It's almost exactly what I look like right now.
Kind of weird, in a post-modernist kind of way.
Heh, I can understand Dinklemeyer perfectly, I've been there too in my high chool days. At least lunch wasn't too lonely for me though, I hung out with the rest of the geeks and burned out metalheads. B-) BTW, your cartoons aregetting out there, as we say in CB radio land, "I'm receiving you wall to wall and treetop tall." BTW, my name is taken from my CB Handle. B-)
Yeah, High School is a really awful place to be. I'm glad I'm not there anymore! But me personally at lunch, I was a mixed bag. For the first two years I sat with the geeks, but somehow in my junior year I just quit sitting with people. I sat with more toward the end of my senior year, though.
Wall to wall and treetop tall...I like the sound of that.
Looks like the big competition tonight is coming from the Sharon Stone thread.
Bumpity bump!
Thank you for your bumpities.
Good ones tonight PC.. and whoa.. you did a self portrait .. pretty good as I have seen your pix!
thanks for ping
Hooray! Someone else showed up!
The irony of this is that this is one of the lesser read cartoons I've posted in a while so far.
(Maybe in the last panel I'm poking fun at myself for being so concerned with how many views I get).
I was thinking the same thing!
Nice job as always!!!
Thanks, as always.
I looked at your cartoon. :-)
