And now for tonights Dinklemeyer bonus. The idea sounded good at the time, and was based on real-life speculation. I introduced a character named Stephanie, who is good-looking and popular and secretly likes Freddy. But Freddy is not only too shy to talk to her, he is also unaware of her crush. The first panels in this one really show the melancholic nature of the strip at the time. It was more about loneliness and poignancy amidst High School angst. Later on, the strip will take a sharp turn into goofiness, but were not there, yet. Stephanie seemed like a good idea, but I wasnt good enough at drawing at this point to really include 2 hot girls (the other one, Karen, didnt work out either). People who read this would tell me she looked more like an alien than anything. The idea never went anywhere. Stephanie only appeared in one later strip, then was gone along with Karen.
Click here if this doesnt make any sense.
This strip and the next one (that will be run Friday) are I suppose what I can call the first official story (the story runs for more than one strip). And I can also say that despite that milestone, this strip and the next one are my two least favorite Dinklemeyers.
No other announcements. Enjoy.
nice socks! :D
Thanks!
The dog is demanding I take him for a walk, everyone. I'll be back in a few.
There are people looking at your cartoons.
Brilliant! I just love Dinklemeyer, I can identify with him, we have an awful lot in common, must have gone to the same school...only mine was in Australia.
Oh, well good. Glad that's cleared up then. :P
The response to the idea to Dinklemeyer was big and enthusiastic. I'm glad to see that people aren't disappointed by the crudeness of the drawing (they are classroom doodles), and are willing to see it via the story and writing.
Good.
I actually came up with the idea of that last panel a long time ago. I've been looking for an opportunity to use it. The West Wing thing is kind of a distraction.
Just a fun little jab at myself.
Ok, it worked.
This is my favorite so far. You really threw me with it being you in the last frame. LOL
Dinkelmeyer cracks me up, too - I was also not so popular in high school, so can relate.
I love your cartoons. And I CAN relate To the Dinklemeyer strips........
BTW-- If you want the video to "dare to be stupid" I can try to send it you you. BUT I will need your eamil address, as I can't PM it to you (I tried).
OKay, I'm back again. Mom had to have the computer.
Did you like my Martin Sheen?
And ironically, this one is only getting a medium amount of views tonight.
Well done, FRiend.
May I be on the ping list?
Give it time - good night P!!
