Depends what you want to do.

My understanding is that PS is more geared toward professionals.

But PSP 10 at $57.65 is hard to sneeze at.

Yes. Photoshop is excellent. The Lovely Wife uses it often .......along wih Premiere 6.5 for digital video editing. REALLY great stuff.

I sure would. The learning curve is quite steep though. I am still learning to use the PS6 I've had for years!

..we ask students when they ask that kind of question, what are their particular needs.
We used to use Abobe Pagemaker a few years ago. I always thought their stuff was good but overpriced. One might suggest Paint Shop Pro or MS Digital Imaging Suite, or the open source program.

The advantages of Photoshop is the plug-ins, and it's the industry standard. Downside steep learning curve.
