PEEPIN' STEPHEN: Stephen Baldwin, a born-again Christian, plans to snap photos of license plates of people going into a Nyack store once it's a sex shop, then publicize their names. Photo: Djamilla Rosa/WireImage.com
Actor Stephen Baldwin has his shorts in a bunch over a sex shop opening near his estate in Rockland County.....
The least-known of the Baldwins, Stephen, a born-again Christian, parked himself outside the Route 59 location in Nyack and took snapshots of construction workers walking in and out of the building.
Once the smut shop opens in a few months, the 39-year-old star of "The Usual Suspects" plans to photograph patrons' license plates and run their names in the local newspaper to shame them from ever returning.
His beef is that the store is within a quarter-mile of the community's residential area. "This is a thoroughfare that I drive by many, many times as do college kids, mothers with their children," Baldwin said.
He said he and other residents protested at Nyack planning-board meetings and asked the owner, Quintus Algama of Hollis, Queens, to choose a more distant location, but he wouldn't listen.
In addition to selling sex toys and porn, the shop will also feature video booths where patrons can watch hardcore flicks in total privacy.
"These guys want to do this business, God bless 'em. That's between them and God. They'll have to deal with that for eternity. But the people of Nyack do not want this location where it is," Baldwin said.
Baldwin said he's already enlisted the help of dozens of students of nearby Nyack College who'll be at the store the day it opens to protest.

Papparazzi and others who photograph others with the purpose of shaming or embarrassing them and, as in the case of Baldwin, who is acting as a moral vigilante towards law abiding individuals and legal business, should be held up to contempt.
Sounds like you favor hate crime laws.
I know what you mean. I see more and more of it on FR. More sex threads, praise for homosexual movies, nothing wrong with porn, etc.....nothing conservative about them. I just figure FR is going in a different direction than the homepage would lead one to believe.
I do not favor hate crime laws. I believe in following the laws we have and believe moral vigilanties such as Baldwin (and perhaps you) should work to change laws and not impute your personal beliefs on others to shame them.
Don't know what he said, but Howard doesn't bring people on to challenge him. All he did was hand him ratings.
< Peyton Manning voice > "Mr. Baldwin, would you sign my melon?"
I see no reason to change our laws. Nor will I change my view that people like you and Baldwin who think shaming people because of your personal beliefs, is appropriate behavior..

I see you hold Mr. Baldwin responsible for the embarrassment and shame of those who patronize these establishments.
By this reasoning, the owners of these establishments are responsible for the shame and embarrassment of Mr. Baldwin and their children when they are subjected to these businesses.
I've been to a number of sex shops and none of them had drug dealers or prostitutes hanging out in the parking lot.
As near as I can figure there are three types of sex shops. First the women's type sex shop like "Lovers Package". No one seems to complain too much about these places although they sell plenty of porn and sex toys in addition to lingerie. They are invariably staffed by women who seem to be totally uninhibited in their conversations. They aren't prostitutes however. The clientele is about 50/50 male to female.
Second are the porn mega-stores. These get protested, but there still aren't any prostitutes or dope dealers hanging around them. They have their own security guards who would run them off if they started to. They sell mainly overpriced porn, sextoys and lingerie. Their clientele is probably about 60/40 male to female. The clerks are either male or female and tend to be heavily tatooed and pierced. These are the places where porn stars go to make guest appearances and sign autographs.
Last is the dirty book store. These are invariably hole in the wall kinds of places run by some fat, sleazy looking dirtbag. They both buy and sell porn and half the store is ussually devoted to used porn. They generally have a few sex toys, no lingerie and some nasty video booths in the back. The clientele is 100% male or close to it and a good deal of it is gay. It's been a few years since I've been in of these places, but I've never seen a prostitute or drug dealer hanging out in their parking lots.
If you're looking for prostitutes and drug dealers check the cheap motels and apartments surrounding airports and military bases.
I know you were joking about Viva Rock Vegas being the pinnacle of his career, but check out his list of movies at IMDB.com. I think you were right.
Good for Mr. Baldwin. He's not ashamed to call a sin a sin and to point out that there should be shame associated with it.
Joking? : )
If he's more...promiscuous than that, it might be fun to feed him photos of actual cars in the parking lot of the store, but with license plates of certain prominent individuals Photoshopped in. Let Baldwin track down and publish the names. Then mail the newspaper clippings to the offended parties, and grab some popcorn.
If you find businesses like this objectionable, you should take action to change your local ordinances and zoning. Is it against the law to own an adult oriented business? Are patrons committing a crime by patronizing these legal businesses? Holding people up to shame because you find something they do morally objectionable is, IMO, shameful..
Sure about that?
Your entire argument is based on what you feel is right.
If what Mr. Baldwin is doing is not illegal, then you are guilty of the same moral superiority that you claim Baldwin is acting on.
And, I might add, you seem to take it a step further by telling Freepers what YOU THINK they should do.
