Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning! Steve didn't come in till almost 11pm, so I didn't get a chance for any cholesterol medicine. Woke up with a splitting headache nonetheless!
Steve was happy to hear about the upward swing in the Hole, however...

Too bad that didn't happen to our County Administrator who spent $18,000 for a charter flight from Kansas for an "emergency."
The emergency? The Chair of the Board of Supervisors was arrested on sex charges brought by his stepdaughter. Even though he's a RAT it's pretty apparent that this is really just a family squabble. Still, because it was the Friday before New Years and no magistrate was available he ended up spending the long weekend in jail.
But this was enough of a ~crisis~ that the Administrator and at least two members of the BOS thought it valid to spend $18,000 for the charter flight. Checking the airlines he could've flown commercially for around $300 and would only have been five hours later.
The Chamber of Commerce bailed his butt out and paid the $18,000.
But he ain't politically out of the woods yet, and neither are the two BOS members who took his side.

Can't hurt to try!
Did we tell the thread that we got a weird message on my phone voice mail that sounds like one of the openers for those Nigerian scams? Says he's in Russia though... very strange :~D

Good morning, honey.
Today is "Get Things Done" day. ;-)
I've waded through a third of my backed up maintenance already. I'm inspired!

Yup. Hopefully my inspiration will arrive any second now.
Though, what I really need is for da boss to reply to my request to postpone this morning's meeting.
