Terrifying!
Just goes to show. Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you plenty of votes. :-/
You ~didn't~ just say that, did you?
Well... its true... :-)
Well....yes. There is that.
Well, not naked .. but he's an interesting critter. I like his shows, though he measures things in grams and liters, which I find annoying.
You would enjoy the Food Network, especially the Iron Chef franchise, and Good Eats, which explores the chemistry of cooking as well as the artistry. Check it out sometime!
Goodnight, all!
I'm checking out here in a minute too.
I'll have to watch some time. trini loves Iron Chef and I've seen a bit of it once when I was at her house.
That's the contest one, right?
Sleep well, Rose. I'll be praying for that job to pan out!
Nighty night, Ramius.
Don't flame out on ~those~ threads. :-)
G'nite!!
Watching "Clear and Present Danger" here... was a good Clancy story.
But I really enjoy it... especially the character Escobido... clearly an allegory to Pablo Escobar. I remember so many nights on watch on the bridge reading the classified message traffic... catching up on the Escobar chronicles. The guy was such a world class dirtbag.
I danced when he finally bought it.
Saw a great show on the History Channel a few months ago about the many struggles with bringing Escobar down, and how he finally bought it.
That dude seriously ~needed~ killin'.
Good luck on your interview tomorrow, Rose!
Speaking of never-rains-but-it-pours scenarios, I've got a triple goin' on here. I got a call this afternoon from the gubmint agency where I applied, and THEY want to interview me next week. I didn't think I was really qualified enough for an interview there, so I didn't quite know *what* to say, but I accepted the interview. It'll be an early lunch next Friday. I figure I'll tell the folks at thenewjob that I have an errand to run - if I let 'em know tomorrow, I don't foresee it being an issue.
AND I got back from my visit to find an e-mail waiting for me from the other place I interviewed, and *they* want me to come back for a second interview to meet the head of the company and the other team member. So I don't know how *that* will work. It's just down the road from the real job, so there's that...and I think they start at eight, so I could likely come in before work. I just wish I knew the etiquette on such things!
You don't need to fret, hon! You'll do fine. We got your back in prayer.
If Washington is a right-to-work state --- Ramius? Hair? You'd know this better than I --- you have the right to work where you will, for however long you wish; your employer has the right to employ you for however long they wish. If the gubmint job, and/or the other job, come through, and you want to change jobs, you give your notice at the computer shop. Maybe give three weeks rather than two, just to help 'em out. Then go on to the other job, and try not to burn your bridges, since you seem to have hit it off with the owner's daughter.
Congratulations! This is so cool! We have to ping 2J to it! <laughing>
She's excited, though, because she'll get to vote AGAINST Teddy the Swimmer, though she'll have to do it by absentee ballot.
We were sorry that the movie didn't show the Coasties fake lynching those scumbags. That was one of our favorite parts of the book. I really like the character of Portagee, and enjoyed his return in "Debt of Honor".
Wow!! Washington WAS the place for you to go! I'll keep you in prayer for discernment about which job to choose.
I just wonder what I owe it to both employers to say, ethically speaking, especially to the interviewer - should I tell 'em I'm working? I all but have to if I'm gonna schedule an interview around my work day, but it seems like most wouldn't wanna interview someone who IS employed. I dunno...it's not something I've encountered before! ;-)
There's nothing wrong with going to the other interviews to see what the whole landscape looks like. If one of the others is better, then there's also nothing wrong with going there. Two week's notice would be courteous, but there's no shame in telling them that, sorry, but a better alternative developed...
What a delightful dilemma!
In the normal run of things, advancement up the career ladder means keeping a secure grip on the ladder as you climb. Leaping from rung to rung without touching the ladder is not usually recommended, though it is sometimes necessary. <smile>
President Bush was in the Detroit area Monday, and there's always a 30-mile no-fly zone around him. That no-fly zone extended to Brighton, where my brother lives, and where there's a little uncontrolled airport.
Some Cessna 152 didn't get the message, until it was intercepted at 1000-2000 feet above my brother's house by a F16. Bob said the planes came within 200 feet of each other, and the 152 rocked and rolled as it went through the F16's turbulence.
Apparently the 152 pilot STILL didn't notice anything odd, but he finally caught on when the F16 fired three self-defense flares. The F16 circled it until it was on the ground, and state police came rolling up to the plane.
His local paper had a small blurb on the incident, which was probably the most excitement Brighton has had in the last 50 years. They quoted a Selfridge Air Guard spokesman as saying that NO warnings of any kind were fired.
Bob saw three flares popped. Apparently that's the final escalation before a burst of 20mm fire from the plane's guns. I could see why the USAF denied doing it.
The moral of the story is never play dumb with a fully-armed fighter on your tail. And be grateful the police and Secret Service will only scare the sh!t out of you when you land.
